Domaine de Bellene Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

Somewhat underdone on the nose at this stage that eventually opened up with red fruit and mushroom, accentuated on the palate with some cedar and wood notes (possibly the new oak or ? the MLF) and stem complexity, but an impressive muscular structure with tanin that promises much more to come in the future. Although I thoroughly enjoyed this wine it’s too soon yet - wait at least another few years.

SLDS June 2018 : 1200 bottles made. Cherry, stalk, pomegranate and redcurrant. Good texture, a nice mix of trees and black fruit. Youthful but approachable, with food length. Liked drinking now but also has potential.

Spicier, darker than the C-M Les Charmes tasted before. Again quite oaky, but overall good balance, grip and length. 90-91+

Like with the Maison Roche de Bellene wines before, the oak influence here seems to be less obvious higher up the quality ladder. Nice grip, great fruit, fresh, spicy, powerful, but very elegant and refined as well. Lovely length. 92-93+
