New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Ninth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Medium strawberry color. Small pour. Brief note. This has more intensity, lots of red berry fruits, citrus, chalk, yeast, fairly creamy texture, and plenty of of spiciness on the back end. 91 to 91+pts.

Lovely Champagne rosé, will buy more.

Disgorged 2014. Pink with trace of orange. Plenty of fine bubbles. Subtle ripe red apple nose. The nose suggested a fruity palate but the dry, quite complex notes of citrus, red apples, red berries and biscuit was a very pleasant surprise. Good length and was highly enjoyable with Christmas Lunch.

Forgot to post a note on a recent btl just before Christmas. This is one our fav rose', year in year out, and I've run of superlatives to assign it. Checking the running average score on CT it looks to come in around 91pts. I, 110% believe after drinking wine for decades that the only score that matters is...our own (yours & mine). Nice to look at what other tasters think but, in the end, finding wines I personally rate …

Pretty in pink. Perfectly ripe fruit aromas including candied papaya, guava and stone fruits. Then lots of lift on the lithe, pure palate. Long finish. Not the most complex expression but quite lively and very fun.

A blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay. 2022 base vintage, with reserve wines from 2021 and 2020. Disgorged in July 2024. Deep pink. Very foamy. Red fruit, red cherry, ripe strawberry, blood orange, bread crust, and brioche. Fruit-driven. Good fruit, and good concentration, with supporting acidity, and creamy, ultra-fine mousse.

July 23 disgorgement strawberry, brioche, florals and chalk on the nose. Mid weighted with a fine bead and terrific lift to counter the body. Deftly done dosage. Terrific balance. Outstanding. 93

Best in a single setting with a chill. Not my favorite as it warms in the glass. Nice rose for the price paid.

Not to my palate. The crushed candied fruit was to prominent and not to much other things to give away . Definitly better than a few rose Ch. But still not in the upper league

WB Wine Dinner - June 2025 (Q by Peter Chang, Bethesda, MD) : Nose was shy, a hint of red berry and cocoa that gave the impression of a chocolate-covered strawberry. I didn't get much else from this one.

Harvest 2022, 10 months in large oak casks, Bottling June 2023, Digorgment June 2024. Wonderfully refreshing champagne, fresh raspberries, a few strawberries in the background, a little melting and creaminess on the palate and very subtle yeast notes, all carried by an electrifying acidity. Great fun!

Consumed over two nights this was fresh as a daisy despite being disgorged nearly seven years ago. Strawberries and wheat toast aromas, and persistent and fresh strawberry fruit on the palate, it was just a joy with our ham dinner, as well as on its own. Glad to have more of this disgorgement, and will not be remotely worried about drinking them up any time soon.

Aged Napa at 112 (112 Eatery, Mpls, MN) : Light medium salmon color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. This was a a redux bottle from a recent tasting. As usual very nice, baking spices, lovely strawberry and raspberry fruit, hints of red cherry and citrus bolster the palate, yeast, apple peel, chalky minerality and a creamy full texture as well. This bottle had another gear compared to the previous one.

Old school Napa at 112E CV,KB,LI,DD& SS. My all-round, year in year out favorite Champagne Rose. Bright, refreshing, well fruited, superbly balanced & pretty w/a sense of complexity usually only found in the Tete Cuvees for 6X the cost.

July 2023 disgorgement. 90% PN / 10% Chard with 15% of still red wine added to create the assemblage. This is gentle yet there is a light minimality that comes through the back of the palate, accenting the strawberry, raspberry and lime very nicely. The color is a light peach with this disgorgement, the wine just medium weight--subtle, really balanced well. Bit of a smoky nose, too.

Retired Guys Lunch (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN) : Medium salmon color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Layers of apple and red berries, light toast, savory spicecake, subtle almond, rose petals, powdery cherry sweet tart, chalk. A touch bolder than some bottles.

Minerally, w/nice spectrum of cranberry, cherry & raspberry fruit, good density & cut on back palate.

Effervescence is decaying, predictably. Underlying wine is good, slightly rich, round. Second day yielded more flavor than the first, especially as the wine warmed well above chill. Very pleasing and apposite to a New Year's day spent with one's valentine.

This was 2017 disgorgement. Medium pink color. Very fruit forward on the nose with strawberry and light cherry notes. Very faint hints of brioche coming through as well. Medium+ acidity. Nice, crisp finish. Seemed a touch less expressive than prior bottles but still quite good.
