Solid effort-- dark fruit, dried lavender and organics. It has a few more years to peak.

This is drinking beautifully today. Highly perfumed cherry fruit, some ginger and stoniness. Full and fleshy. Still structural but tannins are calm. Layered, expansive and long.

At a 2017 Barolo horizontal at Terra Rossa Islington. A bit closed on the nose initially, with plenty of dark matter substance lurking beneath the surface and an impression of ripe lush fruit and some earthy iron notes. This is one to leave for a few years

The nose is red jelly crystals hit by hot water. There some clean earth and iron notes. It has good balance and energy and sweetness at its core with air. The finish is precise and long. Starting to unfurl but the best is yet to come you suspect.

Initial nose on opening was a touch alcoholic- but fortunately this blew off quickly and a lovely aromatic nose soars out of the glass, terracotta, roses and an expectation of red fruits. The palate is lighter and more red-fruited than I could have expected from a Serralunga Barolo from 2017- demonstrating clearly the deftness of touch and excellent winemaking of the Vajra family. The tannins came through a hour or so after opening, as did tar, hints of dried orange …

Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA) : See through deeper crimson, slight onion skin rim; red cherry and sunshine ripeness, chocolate, pure red cherry, spice, balsam, a little dried fruit, lacking a little focus due to elevated alcohols, cherry liqueur, broader on the palate than the Fantino Bussia right before, hard to follow that beauty; called 2015 Damilano Cannubi.

Consumed with friends over a long dinner - definitely early but gives me more hope for 2017 than I had previously. The nose is just gorgeous with roses, cherries, and a lasting floral perfume. The palate has not caught up yet and is a bit closed off with resinous, powdery tannins. I would wait another 2-4 years before revisiting but this has more potential than I expected given the weather reports for 2017.

Wish I took notes on this, but overall very underwhelming. Might have been a bad bottle

A beautiful perfume to the nose, if a bit tight. Gorgeous and delicious. Apparently doesn't come around as quickly. Halfway through the day it apparently comes back quickly.
