Lucien Le Moine Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets

As is common with le Moine offerings this is very typical and representative of the vineyard - classic Chambolle nose of cherry, rose petals and a bit of smoke. The mouthfeel is very silky with a good backbone of acidity, well integrated tannins and most of the oak resolved and in the background by now. Quite tannic at first, only slow oxed about an hour before drinking, but the tannins mellowed out by the end of the night. Captivating nose, the type of stuff that makes you want to keep your nose in the glass. Light/medium body with lots of depth on the palate, with dark fruit, freshness and a touch animal, medium finish. Great wine, recommend giving it a quick decant or longer slow ox.
