Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's) : Double blind. Pale straw yellow color, looks much more youthful than WU1. opens with an odd cheesy/funky aroma, but that eventually blows off leaving pear, florals, sweet/ripe (meant to be complimentary) orchard fruit and some sort of spice that I couldn't place- I noted cardamom, but that's not quite right- whatever it was it was pleasant. Orhcard fruit and pear, with nice acidity. I preferred this to the first. Guessed chardonnay. 91+ pts.

This bottle was fresh, not showing any pre-mox. Excellent with cheddar cheese.

Both bottles were showing pre-mox. It's a first for this case. I'll open the last two bottles soon.

Enjoyable Chablis which complemented wonderful Rhode Island oysters from Matunuck Oyster Bar. Well balanced, good fruit/minerality, and acidity. 91

Smoky, flinty on the nose with lots of depth and layered, ripe fruit notes. On the palate still a little tight, showing wonderful minerality, warm fruit, great acidity and a long finish. Drink or keep. 91-93

Bright fruit fragrance that starts the taste buds even before tasting. Prominent apple and mineral nose, and oak; big flavor for a Chablis, with firm acidity; long mineral finish. Surprisingly tart, this wine really improved with air and I regret that I didn't decant it. Too young, but delicious. A bit too expensive for the flavor, but maybe it would be worth the price if consumed in year 10 instead of year 5.

Still amazingly youthful and unforgiving. The palate is dominated by minerality, really hiding the fruit. This wine needs several more years in the bottle before trying again.

A really nice Chablis that is super young. Notes of tart apple with lots of acid. There are a lot of minerals as well. A bit more open than the Les Clos. After a while, pear notes emerged on the palate. Probably won't last as long as the Les Clos, but it should still be great for 10-15 years.

Great rich nose. A big Chardonnay, this is not subtle at all. High in acidity, full bodied.

Joseph Drouhin Pre-sale at Block 7 Wine Co. (Houston, TX) : Opulent nose of ripe peach, Meyer lemon, and seashells. Smooth, rich, fruity palate with excellent acidity and a saline finish. Very approachable now, but will likely improve with some time in the bottle as the fruit right now is very youthful. 91+
