Champagne, Red Burgundy and Riesling - Q by Peter Chang (Q by Peter Chang - Bethesda, Maryland) : The same cellar at the 02 Echezeaux, i.e. excellent provenance. Expressive nose encompassing cherries, root beer, licorice, cocoa, and a briary earthiness. Very focused on the palate, already stripped of any baby fat, but still primary with very ripe cherry fruit gaining dominance as it breathes. At the three-hour mark it's actually slightly New Worldish for a Vosne, and not as elegant as expected for the cru due to the cherry-fruit spikes and slightly dry tannin. Still, lots of interesting stuff here.
