First time trying this vintage for Clos Rougeard. Seems a more balanced, slightly more demure vintage compared to my beloved 2014. Doesn't have a wild edge, but shows balanced, marrying cherry fruit with earth and a hint of green bell pepper, round and supple texture, probably at its plateau for drinking now if you enjoy wine with some primary notes still.

Timide à l’ouverture mais le nez est complexe et enivrant. Bouche très délicate, pas de concentration ni longueur, mais il émeut par sa subtilité et une finesse désarmante. 91 pts Une bouteille plus évoluée qu'une autre prise au début de l'année, qui avait eu besoin d'un carafage en règle.

Nez légèrement fermier, mais peu de ce type de notes en bouche. Une belle finesse, un grand équilibre, assez long en finale. Une finale légèrement tendue qui s’harmonise mieux avec le plat que bu seul.

Que c’est beau! Que c’est payant d’attendre ses Rougeard. Ce 2010 est parfaitement en place, tout en finesse et en équilibre, encore énormément de puissance et de persistance. Grand vin!

Blind tastind in Spielgelau glass: clear matue hue. complex nose of underforet strawberries, leather, black pepper. Palate is delicate, long and deep, energic, perhap few berries, but what a struture of freshness, tobacco litgh bitter and those tertiary notes. It is like a dream of a cowbow with a holster on your right , riding a stalion just out of the post relay. A Great experience. Merci Thomas.

Drinking wonderfully. Silky and very Burgundy-like, though also very clearly a Cab Franc.

This was really good, and I'm a bit sad I didn't pay more attention to it... It was a masterclass in balance this wine. Red fruit, mushrooms, earth, some green herbs but nothing underripe, integrated tannins, flowers, balanced acidity, very very fine wine. For my taste this is perfectly in its sweetspot now, and no sign of decline. A wine that requires and deserves attention and contemplation.

Fin de semaine au lac à la Galette; 6/22/2025-6/23/2025 : Nez parfumé floral, fumé, pas de poivron. Très belle texture aérienne, élégante, il a du fruit et de la fraîcheur, une finesse de tanins admirable. La finale est longue, elle s’étire sans effort, en délicatesse, avec une fruité noir presque jeune encore. Une telle suavité est émouvante. Chapeau aux deux fadas! 93-94 pts

Terrific in a small pour. Leafy and elegant nose with a little pepper tossed in. Palate is fine, fresh, acidic and a bit narrow, but wonderful depth and complexity. Finishes strong.

Tasted blind, I appreciated this wine's beautiful, round, red-fruited, slightly jellied nose; pencilly, green peppercorn palate, tannic. Guessed 2005 Clos Rougeard - a beautiful wine.

A year since we had this last and continues along the great path and really just delivers and adjusted for the price of its eldest siblings really the one to go for. Now well secondary but still full of intensity and good fruit, bright wine and just performs ever so well. 93+ easy and easy a good decade here.

Magnifique bouteille, ouverte 4 heures avant dégustation. Robe rubis foncé. Arômes de framboises, puis poivron rouge, épices, cannelle et une touche de tabac. Bel équilibre en bouche, complexe et fin, tannins intégrés et finale de longueur moyenne. Me semble au début de son plateau avec une bonne dizaine d’années devant lui.

Classic Loire cabernet franc nose with bell pepper, dark fruit, cassis, and black cherries. Lovely palate with good balance, more dark fruit, and good structure. Nice and lingering finish. Lovely wine that's drinking well right now but is still youthful and should continue to improve with age.

A beautiful wine, but bested by the 04 rougeard next to it. Not a green vintage, but still elegant. Judging by the 04 this still has years to improve.

Extraordinary… pyrazine red fruit nose… palate of cranberry-forest floor-pyrazine, spice… impeccable balance and mouthfeel… long long long long finish. The wine still haunts me with its beauty 12 hours later. My only reticence in not giving it a higher score is I’ve previously taste 07 Poyeux which is even better.

I poured one glass with coravin 6 months ago and now opened the bottle to drink the rest. This was really better on day 2, softer, more plush. Medium+ intensity with earthiness, green bell pepper, cherry, black currant, graphite, tomato leaf, crushed rock, menthol. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish.

Cherry, flowers and spice on the nose. I would guess high quality red Burgundy here, though there is also just a touch of green from the Cab Franc to distinguish it. Very silky. Excellent wine.

First time tasting Clos Rougeard and Im not disappointed at all. It started of with some oak and a fresh green note like green pepper and sweet red fruits mostly strawberry. Blind fail. Thought it was a bretty Italian. There's a little brett there but this has leafy tobacco herbal notes in spades but with a polish and elegance unique to Rougeard.

Served blind. The green herbal notes on the nose with a medium weight body reminded me of a 2011 burgundy. Once this was dismissed, that peppercorn finish clued me into cab franc. I guessed Baudry 2012 as it had a little brett. I was indeed surprised to see this was a 2010, as I didn’t feel it had quite the ripeness I would expect.

The nose is immediately lifted and classically Loire Cab Franc showing charcoal, burlap, brambly black raspberry, rosehip, green tobacco leaf, gravel, licorice, and red cherry. In one word, spectacular. Having only had young Rougeard post-2017 after the ownership change, I was excited to finally taste a bottle made by the Foucault family. This bottle was incredibly elegant with hallmark Cabernet Franc pyrazine aromas, yet successfully avoided any appearance of under-ripeness or greenness. There was always an underlying salinity (my favourite) that seemed to be less pronounced in recent vintages. Second time tasting this vintage. Compared to the 2015 and 2017, this is the most elegant but could be a good sign that there is even more depth to come in the future as this could be tightly wound. Simply incredible to drink right now. Gave this an hour in the decanter. Last vintage of the original owner Foucault.

Lovely nose with quite savory notes, some red currants, spices, a bit of flowers, dark cherries, and bell pepper. Nice acidity with tart red fruit, more cherries, a bit of earth and forest notes, and a hint of smoke on the palate. Long finish. This is drinking beautifully right now. Well balanced with quite integrated tannins and some tertiary flavors, but it will surely continue to evolve for a long time.

Yet another Terroir Tuesday at Table, Donkey and Stick ft. Clos Rougeard (Chicago, IL) : Not a very convincing showing, and clearly the least favourite of the three vintages on show tonight. Dirty, thin, and weedy, with pronounced barnyard notes. The lightest of the three on the palate, with good acidity but the flavour profile just isn't working out here. Maybe atypical?

BTG at Wine Universe by Little Somm (SH) : A little tired and oxidised, probably because it was the last pour from coravin. To the bar’s credit, they took it back. But don't think even a perfect bottle would have matched the elegant red-fruited older Rougeards that I've had, seemed too dark and alcoholic.
