The Return to the Ledbury (The Ledbury, London) : How does one rate this beauty is very difficult. Dense and rich, ripe and juicy but effortless, uplifting, almost light in its density and ever so fresh despite 30yrs plus of age. Great Santorini we salute you and a one of a kind experience. 95-98 range for sure.

Not sure where to start. We brought 6 bottles when we were in Santorini in Summer 2016. They are referred to as the "eternal wines", and can age upto 100+ years. On bottle opening, the nose took the whole family back to Santorini, so much so the kids wanted in on the tasting. The nose is of every ripe white fruit imaginable, layered perfectly with each other. From 375 ml - light medium brown color with yellow meniscus; aromatic, dried fig, coffee, lemon nose; delicious, silky, poised, dried fig, coffee, lemon, dried lemon palate with lemon acidity; long finish 95+ points

Old but so fresh. Oxidized but lively. Sweet but not overly so as it is perked up by lively acidity. A nectar of the gods to be enjoyed in small mouthfuls as its waves of nutty, orange peel, dried fruit flavors wash over the mouth. It tastes like it will age forever. One of the better sweet wines I have tried.

Well written Crestfall (below). I bought one of these when I was in Greece. I was born in 1992 so this liquid has been in a barrel and then bottle as long as I have been alive! Take sip, leave it in your mouth for 30+ seconds and there is still booming flavour just radiating out from this liquid. It is insane. RS: 240 g/l. Dark and deep, concentrated mahogany color. The nose practically checks every possible nuance imaginable for a sun-dried Assyrtiko: dark-roasted coffee, dried dates, succulent plums, lemon, milk chocolate, molasses, caramel, prunes, roasted nuts, sweet mocha, some lemon marmalade, a little maple syrup, a hint of honey... just wow. The wine is very dense, concentrated, sticky and chewy in the mouth, yet not heavy or ponderous, but instead surprisingly bright and focused, all thanks to the racy, lemony acidity. …
