Saturated cork, perfect fill. Light gold. Intense tropical fruit, honey, floral nose carries through to the palate. Very fruit forward but by no means flabby, layered, luscious, oily, palate coating, sweet. Long finish. Hasn’t developed much tertiary complexity but it has developed some since the last bottle 11 years ago. Should continue to evolve glacially, though hard to resist now. Excellent-outstanding.

Don't find this quite as primary as other tasters but there is still fruit, acid, minty minerality. A nice bottle of riesling but no fireworks.

AP #28-08, from half bottle. Still very youthful but just starting to show some faint smokiness and creaminess, although this is still very much about its ripe primary fruit. Layers of bright citrus and tropical fruit with fresh floral and honeyed accents, and a frame that feels very light despite the copious sweetness. Love the sense of finesse here, though I'll lay off my other bottles a while longer.

Dinner with friends (@Private location, Stuttgart) : Clear, deep golden color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Fine vanilla, fresh Yuzu, ripe lime and apricot, some woodruff and a bit or petrol. Very fine, fragrant, elegant and deep. On the palate at first a bit… boring. This wine needs focus and attention. It is very balanced, elegant and harmonious and not expressive and dominant. Sweetness is very well balanced by the high acidity. Only 9% abv. Lots of Yuzu with this …

Orange and pineapple notes on the nose. Nearly medium bodied (9% ABV) with a mix of yellow/golden pineapple, golden apple and yellow peach. Not quite as much depth through the middle as I'd expected and while the fruit generally showed the expected complexity, it didn't quite have the acidity to match. Backside had only lightly tart citrus notes and just a touch of light acidity, not enough to keep up with the fruit. Without the acidity to provide the structure, …

Strong orange marmalade/sweet fruit salad with a hint of lemon on the nose really worked well. Nicely viscous but simple mid palate with mild acidity balancing out the sweetness. Still in it's primary phase. Great with a cheese/meat plate app as the sweetness and acidity complimented the saltiness. Very enjoyable but not profound.

Wonderful nose right from the pop of the cork, which cracked but didn't break and was saturated 3/4 of the way up. Apple & citrus, a little tropical fruit, and a smidge of slate - both on the nose and palate. The finish lasts 20+ seconds, where banana seems to sneak in. The one thing the palate lacks, that the nose hints at because of the lemon / grapefruit citrus aromas, is a little acidity which would make it a …

Still very primary, but also very delicious. White peach, apple juice, touch of slate. It will be hard to stay away from this and I obviously should have bought more than just a couple of bottles.

Luscious and tropical, this has huge fruit that is obliterating the acidity right now. I would age this 10+ more years to give the massive fruit and sweetness time to settle down.

Lots of peach, tropical fruits, and especially lychee on the nose. Lots of sweetness and it's a shame that this bottle had the acidity tuned down. Other bottles of mine have tasted fresher.

Lots of tropical fruits...peaches, mangos, passion fruit...and lychee! Nice acidity on the palate too - definitely kept the tropics in check. Nice balance, beautiful wine.

Cellared since release. Opened because it looked like a leaker. Cork was saturated but fill still good. Pale yellow color. Pears, flowers, honey and apple on the nose. Rich smooth palate-coating full-bodied oily deliciousness on the palate with great sweet/acid balance, complexity and long finish. Many years to go. Outstanding.

Big & rich. Juicy sultanas, creamy yellow-peach/apricot, yellow-plum, lemon-candy, spicy smoky lime-flesh, lavender, & cherry-pez. A light sheen of Botrytis in the background. Sweet & very silky. Firms up on the finish with some anise, a hint of orange-zest, & citrus-pith. Med/med-low acidity. Med intensity.

From a full bottle this time, a leaker and one that's drinking stunningly well. Great depth of flavour, a spectrum of fresh fruit accented by leafy, floral, honeyed, and stony notes, and showing more cut and vibrancy than I recall noticing in previous bottles of this. This is fantastic, and I'm glad I have more.

This is pretty much the opposite of the bottle I had on release. It's delicious of course and packed with more tropical fruits than the Snapple aisle, but it's thick and sweet and creamy. It's not listless or treacly, though, as its still got a neon vibrancy and enough cut (though just barely) to last through a meal without seeming cloying, although once the food is gone (and before the bottle is gone) I feel I've had more than enough …

From half bottle. Incredibly delicate and light for an Auslese, yet remarkably complex and utterly compelling to drink now with high toned leafy and floral notes framing riper honeyed, apple and citrus fruit flavours, and time and air bringing out more savoury mineral elements. It's rather sweet and youthful still, but the balance is fantastic and this shows more freshness and cut than I recall on release, though I'll leave my remaining bottles alone for a good while.

Ripe apple, minerality, grapes, lemon citrus that defies gravity. Rich with honey and micro whiff of a lush apricot. 'Well balanced and elegant wine. Just lovely and delicious!

The final glass (well, 2) and my Wine of the Night at a special Selbach-Oster wine dinner with Johannes Selbach and Ewald Moseler in Portland. This block-picked bottling from the stellar 07 vintage is designed to showcase the terroir of the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr and will age 50 years according to the winemaker. As a big fan of 07 Mosels, this one has to be one of the best. Darker yellow than every other S-O wine we sampled. A little closed …

A remarkable range of classic Mosel flavor underlain by slate-y goodness and not a drop of glop. Is this old school Auslese?

Performing much better than in the past - great petrol nose with apricots and botrytis spice, great balance between sugars and acid.

Very enticing - as the Auslese qualities balance out so beautifully. Lighter but truly full flavored. Suspect at maturity this will be just insane. Has all the markings. 375 @ NoPa - worth hunting for more.
