Wow. Wonder if Jdinkin1 and I were drinking the same wine. I thought specifically the acid was really nice and made for a lighter but still flavorful wine. I enjoyed this.

Decanted for 30 minutes before service. In the glass, clear rose/pink at the rim, shading to clear, dark ruby red at the core. On the nose, a somewhat muted mixture of cherries and dried herbs. On the palate, much more expressive, with vibrant dark cherries, nutmeg, thyme, and secondary notes of sage and salt water, paired with a soft, supple texture that rolls into moderate tannins on a long finish. A nice pinot.

Delicious smell and flavor. 14.1% abv. Nicely balanced all around despite that relatively high number. Tannins are so fine that you hardly notice that they are there. Fruit is ripe and delicious. The finish is perhaps a hair shorter than amazing, but wow this is great wine. I like this so much more than the other PL wine that I have tasted (2017 Syrah), which was overripe and hot IMHO. I probably gave this a harsher point rating than I should. The reason is that, although it was great, I believe it still has a long time to improve in the bottle. Lovely and light as you would expect from a pinot but with the deep flavors that really kept coming especially after it had been opened for an hour. I’m a little surprised by the high scores. This was good, not great, and definitely too young. Relatively closed despite having been opened several hours earlier, and unfortunately thin. Decent structure, though not like a high-end Burgundy. It will be better in five years, but the thinness won’t be remedied.

An interesting California pn. This wine is somewhat two sided so to say. On one hand it shows structure and restrain typical of burgundy: slightly closed at first, developing aromas of red cherries, red currants, lavender and sandalwood along with a strong acidity and firm tannins on the palate. Deep ruby, with an especially dark core. Nose of cherry and raspberry syrup with a little bit of funkiness. Medium bodied with medium tannins and medium-low acid. Rich and smooth mouthfeel, very concentrated, with flavors of dark cherries, blueberries and cola, and a bit of heat on the finish.
