Similar flavors as described by Shrages, but I didn't find the wine too hot (perhaps it's mellowed in this last year?). I fine CdR for the price, but not approaching the best that the Village has to offer.

Dark amber. One can see even during the pour that there's not much viscosity -- medium body. No sediment at all. Nose of raspberry, graphite, stone. Flavors with more cherry. A touch hot. Moderately high acidity. Relatively short finish. A lot of smoke emerges in the nose as one works one's way through the bottle. But the acid predominates and persists, making this interesting but not easy to enjoy.

Soft, sweet blue fruit with some hints of spicy herbs, suede, full bodied. Strong without overwhelming alcohol, tannins present but perfectly integrated. Very delicious.

2010 Domaine Chamfort Vacqueyras +++ $17 Another excellent example of Rhone/Vacqueyras awesomeness. Chili's Foil http://8wordsonwine.blogspot.com/2013/01/2010-domaine-chamfort-vacqueyras-17.html

Pop and poured. Definitely hot on the finish. Would definitely be better with some age or a decant to blow off some of the alcohol. Disjointed as well. Would have rated 84, but don't think I gave it a fair chance since a decant would have helped. I will wait another year until having my last bottle.

This was, at first, ripe, sweet yet forgettable but with time the bouquet began to blossom and the palate gained masses of depth. The nose showed blackberry, dark cherry, apple cinnamon and earthy-herbal tones. On the palate, it was soft with sweet spices and blackberry jam. Ripe berries, violet candies and linger spice notes stayed through the medium-long finish.

Classic Vacqueyras. Not much in terms of finish. Med body. Nice acidity. Balanced tannins. Simple structure. Not very exciting.

Fairly reserved nose with more spice than fruit. Nice acidity, not at all heavy or hot. Just a little sweet and has decent grip and a touch of tannins. Good, but I'm probably not intrigued enough to buy more.

Medium body. Light on the nose. Quite bland and somewhat disappointing.

Nice wine. Slightly over-priced at $17.
