Double decanted before bringing to a friend’s house. Bright light garnet color. Floral and red berry nose, with zero oak influence (Aged in old, Slavonian Oak Casks). Palate is surprisingly supple yet showing ripe tannin, bright acidity and a lovely texture. Rosewater, tart cherry and raspberry are showcased on the palate. At only 9 years old this is still evolving favorably but strikes me as a 15-20 years wine rather than 20+ more common for most Barolo. Great with a …

Decanted 2 hours. Pale garnet. Med (+) aromas of ripe black cherry, red cherry, red flowers, dried herbs and subtle sweet baking spices and mocha from 24 mos. in very large French oak casks. Dry and very balanced, with high acidity, tannins and alcohol (14.5%). Full-bodied, with med (+) to pronounced flavor intensity and smooth, long finish. Barely approachable at 5 years, it has the potential for improving with extensive future aging.

Auch im Vergleich zum Rocche di Castiglione noch ruppig und anstrengend zu trinken. Für mich auch fraglich, ob das Potenzial hinten raus noch kommt.
