Dull light purple with some brown. Beautiful smoky berry fruit nose. Delicious earthy floral dark berry flavours and a delicate dry resolved finish.

Today a vertical of 6 vintages of this Château: 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. This is one tasting note for all of them. The common factor in the wines is that the most dominating fruits are different kinds of cherries and some dark forest fruits, the use of oak is evident and there is some bell pepper. The 2001 is clearly the one which is most mature; everything nicely integrated, mild acidity and a medium plus length. The …

One of the best of the area, I drink 5 bottles of 2001 since released. Last night, decanted for 1 hour, very classic nose of Merlot, tiny fruit, floral, mimeral, wood, earth, a lovely wine with a good finished. It's on the opposite side of La Fleur de Bouard. ( even the old style 1998 ) I have to say that LFDB 1998 is more seductive but Grand Ormeau is a same feeling of drinking Ch.Latour. Never want to open …
