Fruit has mostly gone and showing past it's prime for sure. Balance is a bit off too, but still tastes good. Will need to drink our last bottle sooner rather than later.

Still drinking quite well. Did not notice the fruit fading as I did last bottle. Very enjoyable with leftover steak.

Agree with Polarbear22. Even though the wine seems to be sliding, it was very enjoyable! I didn't take specific notes, sorry but at this point in my life, I just enjoy what's in front of me!

Fruit may be starting to fade a little, but this is still a great wine. I have loved the 2005 Cabs from Wellington. I will target them to drink up. Hate to have them be less than everything.

Almost four years later, still magnificent. Bright spicy nose, notes of cedar and earth on the tongue, as well as a lot of rich fruit. Sorry I don't have more. :-(

A little better than the last bottle over a year and a half ago. It is probably at its peak right now. If I had more I'd drink it very soon.

Had this at Avant in Buellton - while not the best match with our meal it was delicious. Herbs, leaves, core of red fruit, and plenty of goodness coming out over time. If only I'd known when this was up on wine.woot I'd have maxed out.

Nice dark color. Decanted about 45 minutes. Kept opening up. Some nice dark fruit and good acidity.

Dark ruby color. Black cherry, raspberry, currant. Still noticeable oak with a cedary tone. Medium-full bodied. Very good.

Bought this wine almost exactly four years ago. I still like it, but this bottle had a great deal of sediment. Drank the wine over three days and it was still quite good on that third day. Nice body, medium finish, excellent with grilled steak. I did not decant this bottle, but I should have filtered it.

Decanted but not vinturi'ed. Magnificent with grilled strip steaks. Spicy nose, just a LOAD of bright luscious fruit.

Still needed decanting. Opened up over an hour. Initial tight with tannins, but paired very well with steak after it opened up

It was tight upon opening, so I vinturied it. What a difference it made! Same dark, ruby highlighted purple, but with a richer, dark fruit, spice and leather nose. Full bodied, the vinturi settled the tannins down and let the plums, blueberries, blackberries, sage, and sweet oak shine through with an exceptionally smooth transition from front to back. Good acid made it very food friendly, and the finish was long and chocolately. Two different wines (before/after), and the second one …

Popped and poured before dinner. Dark color in the glass with significant crystals on the cork bottom. Fairly muted nose with some spice. Vegetal/bell pepper flavors when first opened. Over several hours, the flavors changed to more dark fruits. Decente QPR.

Extremely dark in color. Nose has a little rubber on it. The dark fruit came through well and overall the wine was rich with a great, long, velvety finish. Really enjoyed this along with a steak dinner.

Very nice wine, not a typical CA wine, but that's Wellington for you. Starts tight with a green edge. Opens up to fresh cut pungent tobacco, cherry, currant and a little oak vanilla/spice. Red fruit up front with perfect amount of creamy oak on mid-palate. More tobacco on the long earthy finish. A little heat is only drawback. Just the right amount of oak, right level of extraction for this level of grape ripeness. Reminds me a bit of a …

Opened: cork had a thick layer of crystals and was heavily stained, although not up the sides. Good sign. Poured: Deep ruby at the rim, and an opaque purple-tinged garnet through the glass. Nose: Characteristic of CS with crushed stone, cassis, maybe even some hardwood aromas. Oak not immediately detectable. First taste: Very tight with little front palate, but a decent finish. Tannins are very smooth and surprisingly light for a wine of this color. With a little air in …
