A densely packed bouquet. Fruit of gooseberry, apricot and stone fruit. Broad mineral base with traces of petrol. Herbal infusion. The palate has just a pinch of sweetness, a firm structure and quite some weight. Texture feels creamy. This has entered a beautiful drinking plateau.

By the bottle at a restaurant. Not decanted. But couldn't take a proper note. From memory: - it was open and expressive upon opening, no need for a decant - classic Mosel nose of intense minerality and ripe peaches. Very stone fruit dominant - good texture and insentiy and concentration on the palate - finishes dry but not austere or ungiving - I would describe this as a rich wine not a lean / taut wine. But it was very …

Really hitting a great spot here. Striking purity of fruit, on the riper side of the spectrum showing peach, lime and honey, but super vibrant and brimming with a stones minerals and tingling acidity on the finish. Was a lovely drink as is, but the bottle open for a few days this evolved to show more of the citrus and minerals and I feel this shows this can ride a long way yet… Sehr gut wein!

Right out of the gates this caught me off guard. Intense and opulent with ripe stone fruit, canned peach, tangerine, blood orange, lichie, mineral notes, hints of petrol and spices of bergamot and saffron – the complexity here is off the charts. The texture is velvet and creamy at first, the leading into amazingly fresh acidity. Paired against Robert Weil Gräfenberg GG 2017 and this clearly stole the show.

12,5% Alc., yellow color. Nose: Very open, full of fresh yellow fruit. Palate: Dancing, very good balance, fine yellow fruit, minerality, nice sweetness, touch honey, good accompanying freshness, lacks a bit of intensity and concentration. But the ease and weightlessness of the wine combined with very good harmony presents simply a very classic Moselle Riesling. My wife loved it!

Stunningly open at the moment. Some spontaneaous fermentation notes that go away quickly after opening, then a lush nose made from ripe apricot, white peach, apples, herbal notes, hay, yeast and bright tobacco with a hint of petrol. Quite elegant and balanced long finish, again with yellow stone fruit and some racy acidity and minerality. In the drinking window from my perspective.

Still a bit closed, but I opened it around lunch time and gave it lots of air which helped immensely. But for anyone else: wait atleast 2-5 more years. Apple, quince, peach, citrus, slate, slightly tropical, apple blossom and a tiny whiff of petroleum on the nose. The palate follows with big hits of lemon, green apple, peach, quince, grapefruit, floral notes, lots of minerals and a beautifully crisp, racy and balanced acidity!

Way too young at the moment, even from a small bottle. Will come back in 5 years.

Brilliant GG - still slightly sweet, beautiful terroir expression, minerality, flintstone notes and balanced mouthfeel - agile but enjoyable now but will for sure last amazingly well! Great GG which will benefit from more cellaring!

(at Weinhaus Stetter - Stuttgart). Flat out terrific with a long life ahead. Pear, ripe grapefruit and flowers on the nose. Light as a feather but penetrating depth. A bit young and disjointed on the finish. All this wine needs is 5 years. Imcredible purity. Terrific. (94)

This wine, more than most, needed time and showed significantly more after a few days in the bottle. NOSE: sweet, ripe apricots, dripping with honey. Peaches and pears - again quite ripe. There is a hint of lees and smoke on the nose at the start and it takes some time to blow off. PALATE: The front palate opens with stone, white peach, mineral and savory herb. it quickly envelops the drinker - jumping between sensations, a complete wine even …

Petrol and minerals on the nose. Medium bodied, dry, crispy and elegant, showing more minerality than yellow fruit (compared to Juffer). Quite elegant. Good pairing with the white fish. Had a glass at the producers dinner at Carelia restaurant.

2017 Riesling GG Tasting @ VINEUM in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (Vineum, Rotterdam) : Fourth wine of the second flight containing 4 2017 GG's by Thomas Haag at the Schloss Lieser. They all have the signature while keeping the vineyard terroir, which is a great compliment for all the wines and winemaking! 94-95, while this maybe is not know as the best vineyard, Thomas always seems to make one of his best wines from the Niederberg Helden terroir...

Van Steenderen Wines Grosse Gewächse 2017 Tasting (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL) : Tasted blind. Quite closed on the nose, but cleaner than the other three wines in this flight; ripe fruit, juicy, floral, lovely expression, gentle bitters, convincing finish. Drinking well already. I am inclined to add another point, but I am not sure whether this would reflect the intrinsic quality of the wine or its early accessibility.

GG Tour VDP.GROSSE LAGE 2019 (Handelskammer Hamburg) : For me as nearly always top GG bottling from Lieser, not that well known vineyard, but...., this dense elegant precision, superb mineralic showing, this one is for me! **(**+ -?), 92, 93+ potential

BYOB at Casa de Montecristo in NYC. From half-bottle. No formal notes. Citrus, stone fruit and stony mineral notes, with smooth, sour acidity and good length. I tried pairing the wine with a cigar (Davidoff Year of the Pig 2019), but the medium to full cigar overpowered this young, dry Riesling, emphasized its sourness and cut off its finish. I drank the rest of the bottletwo days later (without cigar), and the concentrated stone fruit and lime flavours, the wine's …
