Still plenty of sweet fruit, sandalwood, cedar box, and sadly, a generous dollop of brett I don’t mind it in my Rhone and Loire wines, but here it just takes center stage.

Holy hell are these drinking great. Lots of stemmy herbal notes on the first pop, but after a bit of a decant, this could be confused with the best of Burgundy.

from a coravin pour - on first taste - tight, acidic, very high toned red fruit, rubarb, strawberry profile. With some air rounding a bit more. Give this an hour of air to flesh out. with more air these puts on more weight - assuming whole cluster here as it has that style; it is well rounded with a profound mineral finish. Damn this is very good!!

From the PGC library release. PNP, drank over several hours. Fully mature Pinot, all about the savory notes, mushroom, some rhubarb and tart acidity. The fruit, raspberry, is in the background.

From the Patricia Green library sale. This bottle was a touch better than my first, which had a bit too much mineral/iron for my taste. The nose initially had a light funk, like a forest floor that got wet a week ago and is now mostly dried out. An echo of funk. But with each glass we poured, the nose got funkier and funkier. The last ounce was superfunkalicious. Loved it. Color was a medium- to pale ruby with little …

Nice wine, a little past my sweet spot but not over the hill. Drink the other bottle soon.

Popped and poured. Musty earth that eventually blew off with subtle fruit of rhubarb and raspberry. Good structure and finish. Could go a another couple of years but drinking well now.

From Patricia Green Cellars' library sale. Excellent wine. It had a soft, funky nose with a very nice mineral streak (maybe a bit of iron) on the palate. A little kick of cinnamon spice as well. The fruit was not the star - obvious for a 17yr old wine, but the front and mid palate were nicely integrated. No tannins. Pro tip: stand the bottle upright at least 3 days prior to drinking. This bottle had a fair amount of …

From the Jan '21 PGC Library release. Moderate bricking on the pour. The most striking thing about this wine is the texture. Tannins fully resolved, leaving a caress like a fine cashmere blanket on a cold fall day. Sweet black cherry fruit, wood ash, decomposing flowers, and a bit of funky/prickly cinnamon spice that increases over time (low level brett?). Not the most depth and perhaps on the downslope from a flavor profile standpoint, but boy the texture is marvelous. …

Jim Anderson / PGC dinner - Etzel Block Vertical and Blind Tasting (New England) : Blood, tomato, stewed pepper on nose. Moderate concentration. On palate - wow. Rich, mellow. And this is an off year! Damn.

Opened and consumed in two nights. First night nose is pretty muted, fairly non-descript. Color is still ruby red, no bricking as of this date. Second night nose is more typical with a little farmyard and raspberry. Palate on both evenings is about the same - amazingly fresh for this wine with these years. Raspberry and spice and a little sour cherry. Decent length to the finish. Surprised at the quality still remaining.

Last bottle of this...terrific, gorgeous wine. Soft, complex, and intriguing. Plenty of both fruit and secondary/tertiary character. Raspberry/cherry, mushroom, earth, leather, clove and spice. Drink now (or within the next year or so)....

I'm with you guys. Time really helps PGs wines and this one is what Oregon lovers dream about.

It really was bittersweet opening my last bottle of this. I truly wish I had more. While it is nothing short of outstanding...if I had more I'd wait another year or three before opening the next bottle. I think this has to go down as my most favored Pinot Noir from Oregon in the past few years. One thing is for sure. Those who have this in their cellar are lucky!

Popped and poured. Predominantly forest floor and cherries on the nose. Very nice. A similar profile resonates on the palate. The forest floor/pinot funk carries through the finish. Not terribly complex but a very nice bottle of pinot.

Somewhat shy bouquet; opened into some spice, dark fruit. Absolutely delicious; balanced, elegant though not copmplex.

WOW, what an amazing bottle. Funk that could not be described on the nose but as "oregon funk" dominated this wine off the start. Mouth feel was silky, and elegant, with bright red fruit, expecially Maine strawberries, made me want more of this wine. It was ashame to see the decanter empty after this wine but we continued to smell our glasses for 20min after that. This is a wine that i would truly love to get my hands on …

My goodness time has done this baby proud. Beautiful funk, earth, truffles, and wild strawberries on the nose. This wine is something like an addiction for me...it is simply impossible to explain the pull this has on me. You can't understand it if you haven't been here...sitting beside me with your nose in the glass. Jim Anderson is a generous and kind man...and I would love to say that he's influenced me on this wine...but I don't think he has, …

This was pretty good. I think it has what it takes to go 5 more years and develop into a fine bottle of mature Pinot Noir.

Retail Price $45 AVA: Yamhill-Carlton Alcohol: 13.5% This wine is filling the room with aromas as I type...and I JUST opened the bottle. A nice deep garnet color at the center the edges are starting to show signs of age with a little (very little) rust color as it fades out to a clear rim. There is a very dark earth/planting soil nose that overlays scents of black truffle, bing cherry, and scents of my grandfathers workshop with an oils …

Took to a small dinner party. Most people were white wine drinkers. One sip of this and they quickly became converts to Oregon Pinots. Excellent balance right out of the bottle. Would help to decant.

Just an incredible wine. Sweet and smoky with incredible length. Deep and dark in color with blackberries, rasberry and tar. An excellent flavor profile and a great wine. Top notch Pinot from Patricia Green.

Great complexity, with interesting Christmas spice combo (cloves, cardoman, cinnamon, etc.) and bright, vibrant fruit (cherry, raspberry, strawberry) but quite sharp and acidic.....This will be interesting to try over a few years.

This Pinot is just stunning. The color is a deep garnet mixed with blackberry. The nose exudes scents of plummy, jammy berries and plums. The taste has just enough acid to frame the super jammy blackberries, cherries and plums with just a hint of spice.
