Kemmeter Wines Riesling The Controlled One Kemmeter Estate Vineyard planted

Drinking nicely w/petrol notes beginning to emerge as this Riesling ages. Wish we had more-shared & well received at WC hosting.

Previously tasted 4 years and two months ago at the winery and this was my first from bottle. Takes about an hour to open up, then shows pretty white peach and floral notes with an undercurrent of white apple on the nose. Between light and medium bodied and has opened up since I last tasted this wine, now showing a distinct mix of rounded white apple, richer white peach and brighter white apple and white pear. Nose is very strongly citrus-y/lemon-y. Bright and baby faced, but no doubt it will show some petrol with age. Background has some apricot too. Very fruit forward but also very learn, with the finish shifting more to the mineral side. According to the winemaker this should easily go for 10-12 years.

Tasted at the winery. Beautiful nose with lots of floral qualities as well as aromatic peach and apple notes. Between light and medium bodied with intense, compact fruit at this stage. Mainly showing a mix of white orchard fruit (particularly apple), but the density through the middle, coupled with the acidity on the backside is already providing a degree of balance.
