Fresh and elegant second wine mainly composed of cabernet sauvignon. Very delicate nose with sweet dark and red berries and toast. The palate is nicely balanced with fresh acidity and silky tannins. Vinified with a light hand from perfectly ripe grapes.

Silky but not weightless, dark-fruited yet never heavy. Blackcurrant cordial, crushed blueberry, and a flick of plum skin give the core its energy, while savory tonescracked pepper, a brush of thyme, the mineral hush of warm stonesadd contour. The tannins are fine, tactile, almost suede-like, and the finish extends in a graceful taper of florals and graphite dust. A poised, quietly confident second-wine expression that wears its vintage and its terroir with understatement rather than swagger. Above average in quality …

This wine is clearly made for the now. And coming off of the 18 Pichon Lalande I had last week, I had low expectations. But I have to say that it impressed me with its minerality, acidity, and bright fruits that were not the least bit over-extracted or jammy. A bit of franc-iness on the finish (no idea if theres franc in the blend or not - probably not!) that reminds you its Bordeaux and not Napa. Really pleasant. Id …

(88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 16 Monate Ausbau, 80% in Tonamphoren, 20% in Barriques). 89 vvPunkte www.vvwine.ch
