Tightrope Syrah

Tasted after a one hour decant. Dark ruby in colour with aromas of slightly earthy leather/licorice & background oak. On the palate, full bodied, tart & juicy, black fruit, blackberry/cassis, floral, slightly earthy, well integrated oak, medium acidity, medium soft tannins with a long finish to black pepper & liquorice. Not particularly complex, but good flavour. This wine has mellowed out substantially in the past year. No need for further aging. Still very good flavour on night #2.

Tasted after a 90 minute decant & double aeration. Dark ruby in colour with somewhat restrained aromas of slightly earthy licorice & leather. On the palate, full bodied savoury, juicy & very tart black fruit, boysenberry/blackberry, floral/lavendar, hint chocolate, high acidity, medium soft tannins with a long finish to black pepper & hint leather. Wine is balanced with good flavour but still somewhat aggressive. The Tightrope website suggests drinking window thru 2029, more bottle aging is recommended. The wine softened …

On the nose there are violets, black pepper, blackberry and dark cherry. There are flavours of plum, anise, and blackcurrant along with, spice, leather and savoury notes, balanced with soft silky tannins.
