This is a well made wine and I agree with the previous taster, that this wine does not seem typical for this region. The wine is light to medium bodied with light red fruits. But it is a little bit hollow on the mid palate. It is not one I would purchase again. But it is interesting to try. The other thing that I would like to add is the noticeable amount of alcohol. Struck me as atypical for both the variety and the producer. (15% ABV, and for me not easily testable as Mencia.) But: a lovely wine, admired by everyone I poured it for on two occasions, none of whom had Mencia expectations or cared. A wine that's also in strange balance for its numbers -- it presents as rich but not at all hot. Would rebuy for sure at $25-28.

Seems to be a very ripe and big vintage (15% label). Carries the weight well with black berry and bitters on the palate. $57 at Casa Mono in NYC.
