For me, this wine has a ton going on — bay leaves, olives, dark chocolate, hints of eucalyptus, and a sort of dark herbaceous quality that runs throughout. As it opened more blackberries began to come across. Definitely a nose that never ran out of discovery. Palate-wise it’s very structured without feeling aggressive. Grippy tannins, nice acidity, it’s full bodied with a nice sense of balance. The dark fruit took a little time to come across on the palate, when …

Soft and supple. Full of aromatic spices, garrigue and ripe red fruits. Almost creamy in the mouth. Slight pepper and smoke linger. Excellent. À point.

Last of 4 mature bottles from the same producer. An ultra smooth combination of plum, cherry, strawberry and a little liquorice. Must try to find some more.

Loved this. At the lighter end of the scale. Full of French countryside, figs, spice and olives. Very easy drinking.

Oct 2017: Blind tasting vs 4 other southern French reds, before and with dinner. Notes: Retracted, balanced, rich palate, spice, dark berry. Lighter body, grenache-y. Pleasant, light, taut. Was one of my favorites, with a distinctly grenche style body and lots of dark fruit. Sep 2017: Solid with lentils, thyme, tomato, egg, kale. Jammy palate, blackberry, then enough acid and a touch of tannin. Adequately structured. A crowd pleaser. Sep 2017: Had with beans, rice, tomatoes, veggies. Delicious. Loved it. …

So ready for drinking now. Well-balanced, refined wines showing plum, dark berries and dried strawberries. A hint of vanilla too. Paired well with grilled steak and sausages. Grenache dominates but Mourvèdre and Cincault add complexity.

Not much to add from last year’s note. Still in a great place, plenty of freshness. Hard to believe it’s 14 years old. Lovely stuff.

Red with a little fading at the rim, touch of orange Wild strawberries on the nose, thyme, aromatic Balsam, cedar, round texture, red fruit, melts tannins, dark chocolate and earth, long finish, perfect with roast pork This is in a great place, still some youthful fruit and freshness but also lots of complex tertiary aromas. Very good

2015 Southern Rhône Flight (K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Red color. Camphor aromas. Elegant, lighter weight. Clean raspberry fruit, good acidity, some green. Needs 1 to 2 more years. Good value, and as it turns out, much more palatable than the more expensive wines that followed in terms of alcohol.

wonderful Rhone blend. Lots of earth and barn yard on the nose, nice well laid tannins, smooth but very much there. Great round full mouth feel. Bright flavors of anise and licorice as well as ripe red and dark fruit.

My last bottle. Tasting very similar to bottle consumed 9 months ago. I will miss not being able to visit this particular Gigondas again.

Blackish purple, opaque. On nthe nose sweet b;ack fruits and black olives, expressive. The palate pronouced, black olives, truffles, sweet black plums. Medium acidity, very refreshing. Tannins fine and still very much in evidence in this young wine. A long finish. An excellent wine, still some years away from full maturity but a pleasure to drink too at this early stage.

Although I still enjoy this wine a great deal, I was not as favorably impressed as with the bottle partaken about 1 year ago. There is still a great pepper nose and palate, but the fruit was less bright and the finish was not overly long this time around. Maybe it was the meal pairing that was less inspired or maybe the wine has peaked. I tried the '07 of this wine and the pepper was not nearly as pronounced. …

Nose of turkish delight, pepper and truffles. Excellent height in the mouth, with gravy, aniseed, chestnuts. Fine tannins but substantial. Medium length finish of licorice. Seriously classy wine for reasonable price.

Pepper galore on nose and palate and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. The fruit was full and complex. The finish was very long and satisfying. Acid and tannin were integrated and balanced. This wine was paired with squash soup and antipasto plate. Meal and wine were savored to the last bit. The son was less impressed, but still stamped it with a 91.
