Jammy, ripe aroma with lots of black fruit stems and seeds (blackberry, black currant, plum) and alcohol. Also dried flowers and vanilla. Ripe berry flavors — a wave of juicy red berries followed by a very smooth finish. The alcohol is definitely noticeable. Good, but somewhat linear. This may benefit from additional age, but may also be near peak. Well made, just not my favorite.

Acid plus, juicy and focused fruit flavors. Pretty good. Makes me decide to go to the neighbor to get my Zinfandel from now on!

14.9% ABV. Red, blue, and black fruit. Pomegranate. Continues to be one of my favorite wines! Second night, red raspberry jumps from glass.

Very jammy. Bramble berry nose. Oaky vanilla noose with a little leather. Very good sweet wine. It is in its prime.

With Turkey Chili....decanted for 90 minutes..... Color Dark Crimson starting to brick. In a really nice place still showing it’s Lushishness. Stewed characteristics coming in and out in a good way. Dark Strawberry Jam(not sweet or sour). Brambleberry(good descriptor from previous note). Secondary characteristics starting to take over. Has some glycerin and earth notes. It seems like it has picked up some weight since I tried it in 2013. I would drink between 2-5 years before there is no fruit …

Really nice Zin. Great red fruit with a really brambly complexity. I little sweet but no obvious oak note. Overall a real nice food wine that will be a crowd pleaser.

Decanted >2 hours. Dark red fruit and cedar lank on the nose. Nice juice with strawberry and cherry, hints of spice in the mouth. Medium to mild tannins with a nice finish. Still very young. I’ll wait a few years before going back to this vintage.

A very pleasant surprise to pull the cork to find such an enjoyable wine. A bit of a sweet flavor but not over the top. Still good fruit. Just a smooth, excellent bottle of wine with a lingering finish. That said, I would drink remaining bottles in the near term. I’m just not sure that there is any upside to waiting to enjoy this wine.

This is just really, really nice California Zinfandel. Bursting with bright, ripe strawberries, raspberries, cherries. Medium + body and a smooth finish. Tannins are gone. Doesn’t even need food. Definitely at peak right now.

Historic Vineyard Society Tasting, nose of black fruit and earth, dark, rich fruit, same on the palate, big body, very tasty, lovely, rich fruit, slightly fruit forward, needs four years to peak drinking window, just delicious tasting, and a long finish.

On the nose this Zin promised to be a big jammy gulp with all the brambleberry and spice characteristics California Zins are known for. But with ten years under its belt so to speak, on the palate it was medium weight, nicely balanced, mature. Not a big mouthful of heavy fruit but still a well defined wine that was unmistakably Zin. This wine has aged very nicely and while no hurry to drink up I can't see it getting much …

Nose of raspberry jam and christmas spice. Full body. Purple color with significant bricking. Soft tannins with good acidity. Cranberry, raspberry, port, and maple syrup flavors. Unusual. The acidity keeps the sweet fruit at bay. Certainly ready to drink. Not sure where this goes with more aging, but it could be interesting if more odd secondary flavors emerge. It runs the risk of just losing freshness and becoming a bit flabby. Decant for sediment. 14.7% abv.

Gloriously mellow, fruity assertiveness grown to mature charm. Enough acid and tannin to last a bit more, but great now. First bottle emptied at a party.

Once decanted - rich fruit bouquet - with soil on the noise and no notes of tannin Rich mouth feel with mellow flavors across the pallet - no noticeable tannin on the tongue Stone fruit fills the mouth Some may say it overstayed its welcome in the cellar - I find it to still be a good drinker - last one I have, I don't think there is much more I can get out of it though on the self....

I pulled this one because the database thought it was slightly past its consumption date. I found it to be in excellent shape with perhaps several more years of life left. It drank more like a Bordeaux than a Zin - good fruit, beautifully balanced tannins, clear ruby red. Enjoyed with friends.

Just opened - they say its past its drinking date - but the wine is presenting a rich bouquet of stone fruit and tobacco with a hint of pepper. The flavor is well balanced and jammey - its a sleeper with plenty of flavor and no harsh tannins. With a couple bottles left in the cellar I look forward to opening them up soon, but definitely did not miss the window The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are slow. …

I enjoy the Zins from WS, but they just don't have a sense of place or varietal that the chards and pinots do. I rarely come away wowed and that was the case here as well. Time to drink up if you have this.

Dark strawberry color with cherry jolly rancher on the rim/edge. Initial nose is chemical, almost a little plastic. Will revisit nose later. Juicy and strawberry jammy, red fruit on the palate. Low tannin. Medium-plus length cherry finish with slight acidity.

Deep ruby red in the glass. The nose on this one is really turned up and is really good stuff. Loads of raspberries and blackberries and spice. Medium bodied with really nice balance and just a pleasure to drink right now. Paired with a bloody mary tri-tip and santa maria tri-tip and worked out really well.

- Garnet color - Very jammy nose, with just a touch of Bordeaux cedar/cigar box. Dark fruits on the palate, with a touch of sweetness. Alcohol is fairly prominent. Short to medium finish without a ton of depth. Usually one of my favorite Zins, but this one disappoints. I'll see how the last glass tastes in a day or two.

Both of these bottles were terrible. One was REALLY terrible, the other merely terrible. First bottle was definitely corked. 2nd was less corked, but still flawed. Aerated both bottles and allowed to breath overnight. 2nd day, both bottles were better. The REALLY terrible bottle that we felt was corked still was dead. The other bottle actually improved and opened up to show some sweet dark berry fruit and wood. It was still unbalanced and harsh, but not corked.

This is a well developed zin after another two-plus years since my last taste. It is plummy and just about the right consistency. This one might be amazing in another year or two given that it has changed completely since my first taste. I wish I had another one to test my theory. But I don't. So I'll wait to see what everyone else says next year. But for me, save it about six months to a year. It has …

Ripe red raspberries and bing cherries jump out of your glass after the first swirl. I noticed a touch of jam but my wife who has a much better nose than me also noticed kalamata olives along with the berries and cherries. The fruit juice was smooth with fine tannins and a medium finish. There was a complexity of favors balanced by some oak and acid. This went great with a grilled grass fed strip steak.
