Burge Family Cabernet Sauvignon Draycott

Dark colour and blackberry hints. Not too fruity and light tannins.

NobleRottersSydney - under A$30 (Glass Brasserie, Sydney) : {cork, 15%} [Geoffrey] Violets, iodine, currants. Tending a bit to raisin. Close to full-bodied, but a lot of that is heat. Dense flavours, lowish acid. I didn’t particularly note the tannins. Oak in balance, in that context. Lavish flavours, aging but not really evolving. Slight mid-palate dip. Probably at peak, given the style.

{cork, 15%} 750ml wine, 750g bottle. Dark and inky. Not so much heavy as just prune. Can’t quite hide 15%. Too soft tannins, reticent acid. Malty, dark chocolate, Ribena-without-the-sugar flavour. Medium/full weight, but the finish is too short for a bottle this heavy! Best over the next few years.
