Fausti, Vespro, IGT

To add to my tasting note of 20 Jan 2012: this was the last bottle of Vespro and by far the best, showing its potential to age well. Despite its age, it is still very youthful in colour (vibrant dark red, very limited fading). The nose also doesn't show its age of nearly 8 years. overhyped. ok, but not great. too brooding and too brutal for everyday cosumption. also 14% alcohol. but no real complexity. not sure if the time will help

Some wines from the Angelini Portfolio (Here) : Very ripe. Hints of violets? and what seemed like to me purple fruits on the nose. Clean, with good fruit. Solid bottle, but seems a little overpriced to me.

Any "tre bicchieri" wine is anticipated with high expectations. These could not completely be satisfied. Although this wine is powerful enough, it lacks refinement and fruit. It is a blockbuster no doubt, so if you like powerful wines, you will certainly appreciate this one, but if you seek refinement, fruit and balance (like me), I guess you will have to look a little further. It is quite alcoholic too.
