Terralsole, Brunello di Montalcino

Was not a pristine bottle. I did my usual slow ox the decanted for another 2 hours. Even with all that the wine was just a bit cloudy and a bit of bottle funk, which did blow off after about 2 hours. Usual Sango profile but with a lot of mushroom and leather on both the nose and mouth. Still an enjoyable bottle. Un wow ! Tout en fruit, puissance et équilibre

-- cork pulled approx. 1 hour before tasting -- -- tasted a single pour blind over approx. 45 minutes -- NOSE: smells young; black cherry licorice; a touch green. APPEARANCE: superfine particulate matter present; murky; rustic garnet color of great depth. TASTE: great acidity; some oak (chocolatey); 13.5% alc. a bit spiky on the palate; medium-long finish of medium-light to medium intensity; I guessed ’99 Brunello.

This was really interesting stuff. was turning bricky around the edges in the glass. Continually changing with every sip. Earthy and a little fruit on opening with a subdued mouth feel to begin with. Later there was a fair bit more fruit on the nose and some cheery and toastiness. This has a really long finish on it. rWe really enjoyed this almost for how different it is. Glad we have a few more.

Current and vanilla. Ruby almost bricking brown color. Amazing nose and finish that lasted forever

Wonderfully smooth and balanced bottle of wine. Color was brownish red and nose was dark fruits. Finish seemed to go on forever.

Wow is right. Blackberries, tannins still need to soften, I know this is infancticide but it was worth it. Pure italian countryside on the nose, this took us back to tuscany sitting on the hillside watching the sunset. more blackberries adn spice on the palate. so glad i have a few 03's

No notes, but it was great! Smooth, complex, mouth-filling, long lingering finish... wish I had more...

Wow, this is a phenomenal modern-style Brunello. Opened 90 minutes before first tasting. Nearly 9 years on, a deep, muscular ruby/purple with just the faintest hint of bricking. Nose of plum, pine, black cherry, spice, earth, ozone. Still pretty huge on the palate, but exhibiting a near seamless, balanced progression from sour cherry, into black stone fruit, into spice, licorice, chocolate, coffee. Long, lingering, lovely finish, with a healthy coating of fine tannins. This wine would flatter virtually any food …

Superbe bouteille prise avec Wineboy, Blacksmith, Whitesmith, KopKe, Leoville, Phil C et Adam Bomb. Le nez est superbe sur les cerises, le tabac et un peu de café, c'est assez complexe. En bouche, quel équilibre, c'est tout en finesse et soyeux mais assez ample et charnu tout de même. Il y a des couches de cerises, du cassis et un peu de réglisse. Classic nose, with sour cherry, tobacco, cassis, earth, a bit of tree bark. Surprisingly this is slightly advanced and already showing some lovely secondary perfume. Narrow entry, expanding on the midpalate with sweet cherry, cassis, salt plum, definitely more primary than the nose, with a bit more fruit sweetness than I'd like. Thins out again from midpalate to finish. A good wine, but my personal preference is for Brunello to be bone dry and a bit sauvage.
