Truly extraordinary how youthful this wine remains. The fruit pops, bright and lively both on the nose and palate. Loads of fresh blackberry, mint and forest floor, touch of cured meat on the palate, nice acidic grip elevates the weighty texture - well balanced and with likely decades of life left in it. I'd never guess this wine is 17 years old, never, and that is often the magic of Dehlinger for the few of us who faithfully follow this …

Still going strong. No doubting its from a warmer climate but still delicious on P&P.

This is my only bottle of this delicious syrah and that is too bad. Pop and pour and then drank with a pot roast. Very nice mature Syrah. Drink or hold.

Purple in color. 15.2% ABV. Red and blue fruits, flowers and game on the nose. Medium body with nice acidity. Exquisite texture and mouthfeel. Blueberries, cherries, coffee and grilled meats on the palate. The finish is smooth and silky. Delicious Syrah. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

This has some nice depth to it and will continue to improve. Chocolate, bark and a little earth.

Lavender, chocolate, mint, medium+ finish. Berries on the end, not bitter. Very nice with BBQ. Decanted an hour and then tasted over the next 5.

Dark, opaque wine. Rich and well balanced. Classic Syrah fruit and spice in the nose and on the palate. Should develop further.

Aging beautifully. Tar , white pepper and a gamey meat on the nose. Dark fruits and pepper with plenty of well integrated tannins on the palate. And the finish goes on for a good 40 seconds or more. This beauty still has plenty of life. Sorry I opened it (NOT) as I only have two left. Will wait another 1-2 years for the next bottle. Dehlinger Rocks!

Deep purple core. Tasted over 3 hours. Tar and leather blew off to leave berries, pepper, lavender, and twigs. Well integrated and delicious.

Drank this a day after finishing up a Copain Syrah. This was like drinking a light beer after consuming a pliny the elder. It seemed a little thin but still an okay bottle.

Popped and poured. Inky dark red. White pepper and bacon on the nose; lush on the palate with some well integrated tannins still evident on the finish; excellent persistence. Drinking much younger than age 9. Develops a lovely velvety texture with air.

One of the wines that first turned me on to Dehlinger, and it certainly isn't disappointing now.

Delicious blackberry aromas and smooth flavors with hints of tobacco, spice and pepper that culminate in a moderate finish with soft tannins.

Another disappointing Dehlinger syrah. Comparable: Phil Nevin.

A wonderful perfume on this nose - only issue is a touch of heat. I'm going to try a different stem to see if it is reduced. Color is a VERY rich purple with red edges - looks to be a rich wine, but it is very elegant, yet full bodied with a silky mouthfeel. Great fruit on the palate, finishes again with a bit of heat, which is unfortunate, as otherwise this would be a truly spectacular wine. Perhaps …

Serious, powerful wine. Best enjoyed with a meal, but we opened it later in the evening. Still enjoyable, but needed food to balance the agressiveness. Young with great potential.

Notes from RRV Barrel Tasting 2010 : Dark, deep and dense, brooding, sulking, but and outstanding syrah. Needs time, at least 5 years, then probably a 10 year drinking window.

Young and very primary. Deep nose of graphite, char and rich blackberry compote. The palate is rich and displays impressive concentration. Medium finish still showing some very tart primary flavors. Lost of stuffing, but as others have wrote needs time.
