Indian Creek Winery Cabernet Sauvignon

Undoubtedly big, make no mistake, but oak has somewhat integrated (still some vanilla syrup on nose), and alcohol has definitely integrated. On palette weirdly a ringer for more recent vintage Pomerol? Very tasty and to my taste doesn’t have any mid palette hollowness. Complete with dark red fruits, cassis, cocoa, and structured body. Could go for many many more years but seems to be now in its peak.

cork was fine but, note for future, had small linear crack in the middle. Nose on opening was very tight spice - and color of black cherry. At 90 mins tasted alcohol, fruit. At 3rd hour had powerful dark fruits, dry spices, bit of smoke that soon became an excellent buttery blend of all of that, and a smooth finish. With patience, a great wine.

Wow, has this come into its own! Secondary flavors dominating, nice herb, balanced fruit, tannins all resolved, fully open. A pleasure to drink.

Either I'm an outlier, or this bottle was. Great nose, bodacious fruit, obscenely rich, and a great finish. Only problem was the complete absence of tannins. Could be a defective bottle or it could be that I held onto this a few years too long. Either way, it was noticeably unbalanced and came across as a little flabby. Too bad, because it was otherwise stellar.

Came across very hot with decent tanins but never really opened up after 3 hours. Still seems very young. Drink after 2030.

first night had a glass from out of a Coravin cap - didn’t really open up in 2 hours, but had tons of dark fruit, a bit strong alcohol, and huge tanins. Still enjoyable, maybe 93 pts Second night, decanted for 4 hours… last glass was the best. “Like a blueberry muffin” on the nose per Margaret. Just wow. 98 pt nose, 95 pt palate.

Wow. Great resolution of tannins, still with some nice fruit, and emerging tertiary characteristics. Quite enjoyable for our anniversary year wine! Enjoyed with filet and duck. Now - 2030

Not decanted. 75 minutes after pulling the cork, this shows a very musty, bordeaux like nose of cigar, old leather, earth, and aged wood. These carry onto the palate with tobacco and dark fruit most prominent. Not sure if the smoke I'm getting is residual in my nose from our grill or from the wine itself. Initially sampled side-by-side from both standard and Somm stems but the standard stems had more depth, weight, and a longer finish. As others note …

Deep and rich, but not fulsome. Seemed to be holding something back, mostly yielding black fruit and alcohol. Drank with grilled rib steak. I continue to enjoy drinking the CRV but their flagship releases are leaving me disappointed again and again. Next bottle I'll leave decanted for three or four hours. I did not have much time so double-decanted using Vinturi each way. Still felt like additional air would have helped.

Decanted for 2 hours. Deep purple and ruby in color this wine has a nose of blackberries, cassis and licorice with tobacco and smoke. On the palate the wine has black fruits, black cherry, plum with grippy tannins.Full bodied with a med to long finish. A great WA wine

Excellent. A rich, cool climate cab. Subtle nose of dark cherry, menthol, tobacco and earth. Dark cherry, blackberry, cinnamon, tar, black pepper, and white pepper on the palate. Amazing length on the finish, especially with the zesty spice. Notable complexity and depth. Give this a 2 hour decant at least.

Second bottle I’ve had in last 6 months and my notes from first bottle still apply. Still very high tannin levels that overpower the fruit. Tannin lasts at least a minute in my mouth anyway. Back end of this wine is still almost sour and comes across with very high alcohol. Maybe this comes around but for me one of the least desirable Quilceda I’ve had.

Opened to celebrate the FROST win. Not as good as my previous bottle, consumed in July, which was absolutely fantastic. Withholding rating as my last bottle was a solid 96+, this one a 93-94. I'll wait and see what the next one brings, and I will write a full tasting note then. I’ve had many a qc all the way back to 1990. The 94 still stands as a favorite American wine for me. This is no ‘94…. Yes, the wine is big…. It also shows a lot of latex and blueberry .
