Opened 3.5 hours prior to the start of our dinner and at the club they decanted it an hour later. It was Prime Rib night, and it had been over two years since I last tried a bottle which at the time did not impress me. Waiting made the difference as the wine was outstanding. Dark fruit on the nose., the palate was dark berries, tobacco, licorice, some cherry and fig. The finish was long and smooth. Happy to have …

When we returned from my birthday luncheon my daughters decided to ransack my wine cellar. Opened for an hour prior to consumption. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was blueberry, dark cherry, cassis and tobacco leading to a long finish.

Decanted for 2 hours and drank over dinner for the next 2. The nose was spectacular with floral aromas with graphite, black cherry and licorice. On the palate, it was good but not great with muted black fruit and earthiness with grippy tannins. The finish seemed to be too short, maybe 5-10 seconds

Opened 3.5 hours prior to the start of our dinner and decanted an hour later. Dark fruit on the nose which I found to be a bit muted, the palate was dark berries, tobacco, licorice, some cherry and fig. The finish was moderate to long. My friend Michael liked it better than I did. Again, at this price point I'm expecting the 97 the Vinous gave it. Perhaps my judgement was overshadowed by the 2014 Realm BTK that we drank …

Tasted at winery. Powerful expression of the estate. Still a bit early to open one of my bottles, but excited to see how this evolves over the years.

Tasted at the Skurnik Grand Portfolio Tasting in NYC. Poured by Matt Hobbs. I just don't get it...Quite unremarkable to me...same old same old...big ripe fruit, huge tannin, alcohol, oak. Decent aromatics. Long finish. Brutish. For how much a bottle? No elegance or refinement. Age worthy? Just make sure you have it with an equally overpriced steak.

I tend to agree with the latest reviews. Huge nose and highly aromatic. Very ripe on entry with a front loaded attack. The integration of all its parts seemed fine to me but it was just underwhelming. Was completely outclassed by a 2012 Ovid.

Wine Advocate: Grand Walkabout Tasting (NYC) : Very perfumed nose. Solid, but unintegrated components. A little hollow mid-palate. I'm not sure if this will come around.

My first encounter with the vineyard. Just not my style, with an overwhelming front palate displaying very ripe red fruit, slightly tart, more or less disconnected from a hollowed out rear palate. Not sure it ever integrates.

New York Wine Experience 2018 (New York Marriott Marquis) : Wonderfully balanced with notes of blackberry, licorice and cedar with a fresh long finish.

BT - Like last year, out shined the regular Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark ruby red. Creamed cassis, dark berries, vanilla and cinnamon. Heavily extracted. Heavy tannins (8/10)
