Fourth and final bottle. I am a little disappointed as this vintage never really fired on all cylinders through out the years i tasted. It's not a bad wine but lacks the pop of previous vintages. Color is really screaming Sangiovese with a burnt garnet hue. Nose has a little merlot and medium toasted oak. Fruit flavor is very muted at this point, I'd be concerned about holding much longer as the fruit is really washed out.

Ok, this wine is starting to come around. Color is only slightly bricking but certainly lighter than a few years ago when initially tasted. Muted dark fruit and leather notes. Rustic as the slightly gripping tannins, leather and tobacco clear the palate, worked perfect for the pasta and sausage. Medium finish and medium weight.

Really nice combination 70/30 Sangio/Merlot. Beautiful rich red color...good fruit and very smooth going down.

Nice dusty raspberry, cassis on nose. Sweet raspberry, cherry on palate. Only drawback is the heat/alcohol, otherwise very nice wine.

Pretty and brick red, with quick forming legs and 14.5% alcohol, this is a Sangiovese/Merlot blend. I get a really deep and dark primary fruit profile on the nose, with secondary aromas including vanilla, tobacco and some earth and spice. On the palate, this medium bodied Cal-Ital blend has supple and smooth tannins to uphold the fresh cherry and cassis fruity flavors, with spice and fruit forming a short but pleasant finish. A good value and nice wine for the …

Another nice wine from Foxen. Strong cherry. Some spice on the finish.

Lovely new age italian blend - an odd couple of sangiovesse and merlot. The merlot gives a bit of mid-palette weight to what is a good drink with some umph. Nice with mid-week pasta and tomato sauce. A bit of time would refine the tannins a bit but this is not something to hold onto forever. The very lively nose of fruit may get lost with too much time in the cellar.

Looks like pinot and smells like it. Candied fruit and red licorice nose. Still lots of tannins. Long finish. Should be good for years to come.

BLueberries, and cherries on the nose and the initial hit on the pallate is full and smooth with fruit and man do the cherries come through. Like a nice big slice of dark cherry pie from Door COunty, WI. Relaly enjoyed this. finish gets a little hot, but dampens with the decant and time.

What a unexpected fantastic wine! Excellent Sangiovese/Merlot blend. The pepper and spicy of the Sangiovese are rounded out with the fruit and accessibility of the merlot. The wine drinks nicely right away. After 40 minutes decant, it's a treat of California mid-coast growth. The heat and alcohol gone. Great mouth feel. Gentle finish. Lots of San in the nose, which results in not too much fruit but more earth and pepper. I enjoyed this on its own and will likely …

New Years 2010 (Graney's house in Dana Point, CA) : Double vinturi and sat in the bottle for 2 hours. Less prevalent nose than the '01 but held its own with the Gaja. It coudl score higher if it loses some of the heat and adds some complexity to the mid palate over time. Excellent QPR.

Bold for a Sangiovese but very nice and well balanced. Good QPR.

Le vin le plus décevant du lot, d’aspect très végétal et sucré. Je ne suis pas certain que ces deux cépages performent bien dans cette chaude région. Me fait penser aux Merlot chiliens que je n’affectionne pas particulièrement en général.
