Chimere, Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Dusty nose. Balanced yet intense sweet and black fruit. This divided opinions at the table but I liked it. A bit overwhelming on its own and needs fruit. 93

Drinking great right from the start. No heat or Châteauneuf like pruned fruit. Fresh cherry, raspberry, herbs, violets, vanilla and mineral. Tannins and acid are present but not upfront. This was substantially more refined than the 2010 I had a year ago.

2016 Chateauneuf du Pape 99/100 point wine taste-off (and a couple of pirate Rhone wines) : Black raspberry, fresh orange peel, cardamom, plum, and cassis present in a subtly candied and liqueur-like fashion, but stay true to the region from where it is attempting to honor. Does it taste like SQN? No. I mean, I don’t think so. If you mean is it modern and ripe and ripe and ripe and boozy and ripe, then I’d have to say there …

Perfect, reminded me of Rayas. Kaleidoscope nose coupled with a to die for palate and a smooth, long drawn out finish.

Incredible wine. The hype is real

Very delicious black cherries nose, bacon, gamey, roasted BBQ meat... Loads of super ripe tannin, black cherries, very delicious sappy tannin... BRAVO!!

Very early barrel sample of Mourvèdre... Very very black nose, cold black cherries, very cold and dark impenetrable wine, loads of integrated tannins... to be retasted next year :-)

Barrel sample: Huge salty, mineral, roasted bacon, licorice, ripe red cherries... Very delicious sappy ripe red cherries, super silky tannins, BBQ steak, I repeat myself but this wine is very delicious!!
