Great Napa wine. So savory! A hint of bitterness at the very end, otherwise I would have scored it even higher.

From magnum - this certainly a well made wine that had each element in balance, but, to me, not a blockbuster. Aromas of chocolate, oak, plum and dark berries were matched with similar notes on the palette.

Really tart red fruits and cassis - needs more time to really hit its stride. Let this rest for at least 5 more years

2018 vintage

Tanzer had this essentially correct: dark berries, menthol notes, and drying tannins. I would disagree only in noting that this was a wine dominated by tannins. High-quality, fine-grained tannins, but, damn, that was a boatload of tannins. As far as I could tell, the two hour decant altered the wine little. I'm not entirely certain the fruit will outlast the tannins. I have a couple of more bottles, but based on this bottle, I'm not optimistic.

Mds317 nailed the TN's on this one. Beautiful sweet fruit paired perfectly with the toast of oak. Typical of 15, this had a bit of heat which was the only distracting aspect of this wine. Great for the price paid on the secondary market. No rush as this is just entering into a beautiful window. 95+

Dark, black and blue brooding fruit. Tannin is still not yet fully integrated and needs more time in bottle to really come together. But still, it is already hitting that glimpse of first maturity that makes it a pleasure to drink already. I will keep my remaining bottles tucked away though.

Really enjoyed this wine. Short decant and then opened in the glass while finishing the 1st course. Wow! Beautiful, silky wine with loads of cassis, plum, dark black cherry, a bit floral and tobacco. We also got a bit of spice (maybe clove?) more at the end of the glass and bottle. Definitely has more years to go but we thoroughly enjoyed tonight as well.

Deep clear ruby with a ton of sediment Sweet cherry fruit. This is in a perfect place right now.

Just great - bottom third of cork remained as it broke but Durand took care of that No notes registered as was a late replacement for a corked Bordeaux at lunch Just great and really enjoyable - lots of fruit still, softened edges but decent backbone. Lovely

Fantastic wine paired w grilled steak. Opened 2 hours prior to serving and actually better the next day after storing in refrigerator and warming in air for 90 minutes. Stunning cabernet with everything you look for in a beautiful aged cult cab

Deep purple/red color. Blackberries, black cherries, licorice and hints of chocolate, minerals and floral in the nose. Black cherries, black currants and blackberries in the flavor. Nice depth and complexity, well balanced and medium to full bodied with a long smooth finish. Impressive Cabernet!

Absurdly smooth and delicious. Cassis and herbs deliver complex entertainment from the nose to the finish. Slow oxed for 11 hours before pouring.

A good cab indeed. Too bad by the time we got to this wine, after Absurd, Bevan and Moonracer, my taste bud was numb and couldn't really appreciate this wine. But it nevertheless had a good balance and well rounded taste and nose.

Well balanced wine. Medium tannins and acidity. Fruit wasn't as forward as I've experienced with their wines before, but it was still all there. This one is definitely post turn, but still drinking well.

Herbal nose on the front with notes of dark cherries, red licorice, and oak. On the mid palate you get tar, tobacco, leather, vanilla from the oak and green pepper. Opened then re-corked for an hour and a half. Drank with dinner. The nose was very good but somewhat less bold than I expected. The palate was nicely balanced with good acidity dark cherry and cassis. The finish started with some earthiness and a bit of tannins but was only of medium length.

Somethings was strange about this bottle. It was fresh and had acidity, but the finish was very short and the fruit was very subdued. I wonder if this wine is not aging well or if it’s going through a “dumb” phase?? For a 12 year old wine at that level I’m a bit perplexed. Storage was optimal the whole time.

Deep ruby purple Aroma of violets, dark fruit Bone dry, with rather silky tannins. Seemingly lost its baby fat, still obviously Cali, but settling in if not a blockbuster.

Wow! Pure class ! Pure silky plush, without being overdone. Very special. Perfect balance of fruit and structure. Violets, bluberry, blackcurrant. Acid high but covered in fruit. Tannins super fine. The score will increase as this ages.

Nice wine. Popped one early to see what we have. Layered, refined, not big in any way, but complete. Very nicely done.

Decanted for over 4.5 hours, rebottled & reopened at restaurant 1.5 hours later, then drank over next 3 hours. Last glass 9 hours after opening was the best. First glass at 6.5 hour mark still showed it's youth and long life potential. Bummed it wasn't showing more. Last glass the tannins had calmed down, fruit was more prominent - smooth, dense delicious fruit. Give this baby much more cellar time. 96++ with time.

2008 Napa Cab Retrospective (Fresno) : I think this bottle was likely flawed as I have had this wine before and don't remember it tasting like this. Right now, the 2008 Grand Vin is all about potential. On the nose, there is licorice, cassis, black cherries, violets and herbs. It is medium-bodied, incredibly refined, with blackberries, earth, bitter chocolate and minerals. Incredibly long finish, with tannins clamping down on the palate like a vise. A proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove that needs another decade in the cellar. Great stuff! 96+.

Q1 2017 Tasting - Starts with the Letter (The Apt) : Wine #1: Black fruits, hints of pepper, touch of oak, almost a taste of wood grain. It's very smooth. Decent acidity. Much too early to be drinking it now. Had opened and decanted for prob 5 hours, then rebottled and poured over a number of hours. Even with the long decant was still a bit tighter than expected. Opened and slow ox'd for 12 hours per instructions on Kapcsandy site. I didn't take formal notes but let me say, this is in the top three Napa Cabs I've ever tasted! A beautiful wine that will get better for another decade at least. Remarkable! A perfect wine!
