Casa Ferreirinha, Quinta Leda, Douro

A bit more closed than the previous bottle, and possibly not spot on our Kleftiko pairing. Dense, with mature black fruit, chocolate, toast, licorice. Umami and some remaining acidity fighting for the upper hand. I should have followed my own advice and waited longer with the next bottle. Lesson learnt. Give this bottle (at the very least) another 5 years.

Denso come è evidente fin dall’esame visivo. Colore impenetrabile, naso intenso di frutti di bosco Neri, marasca, muschio e sottobosco. Texture notevole e buon equilibrio tra freschezza tanino e polpa. Finale lungo.

Farge: Kraftig mørk Blålilla Duft: Noe tørr morken ved og tørr jord. Noe friskt i bakgrunnen. Smak: Kraftige tanniner knapt rundet. Vage tonet av tørr, morken ved. Etter hvert noe slåpe. Åpner seg mer mot lakris og bjørnebær. Dag 2 Duft: Noe lakrisaktig mørkerøde frukter mot slåpetorn. Smak: Fortsatt kraftige tanniner. Nyanser kreke-slåpe med kompliserte undertoner. Svært lovende, bør lagres mer.

Dense and elegant Douro, with ample mature black berries, chocolate, mokka, licorice, boosted by umami and menthol freshness. Built for the long run put this bottle aside for a few years, as there is serious potential for ageing.

Soft and vibrant bouquet w. fleshy black fruits, spices and vanilla. Initially very tannic but w. air it becomes smoother and softer but retains its structure. Fuller body and good acidity, lots of dark fruit. Long spicy finish. Very, very good.
