What a pleasant surprise. 4 bottle out of 6, and the first i have truly enjoyed. Fully integrated tanins, no alcoholic Burn. Just Nicely evolved cdp. Drink up though.

Took a few minutes to open up, but when it did it was very good. Started off smokey and then became classic aged CdP. Continued to develop in the glass. Very nice.

Deep dark color. Nose of cherry. Rich palate of red fruit, cherry, chocolate and cherry seeds with medium oak tannins. Very good wine. Bolder on first day but easy drinking on second day.

Big. Dark. Bitter. Fig paste. Some tertiary elements now clearly present. With this current taste profile, I think it's best to hold for 5 to 10 more years, despite thinking that somewhat a risky proposition.

Decanted bottle directly from 7 years on its side. Within 20 minutes, this wine was calming and rounding out. Very nicely balanced wine - perhaps a bit of alcohol on the finish occasionally, but overall very pleased with drinking this now. Some reviews implied the wine might be past peak, but based on first bottle, it seems to have legs for 2 years or more.

Red Berries, dark chocolate, jam, long aftertaste. I think this has peaked and drinks well now. With food (vension stew) we got more leather and blueberrys. The Licorice from three years ago is harder to find.

Did not take any notes and writing this from memory a few days later. This was a very good Ch9dP and it is drinking quite nicely at the moment. Smooth with quite big fruit on the palate. Big nose with spices and dark berries. Starting to mature. Lots of sediment.

Served with pan fried rib eye, squash, and popovers. Decanted 30 minutes prior to service. Deep, dark crimson/garnet, purple at the rim. Earthy, dusty nose, very dark fruit. Tannins remain, but not dominant, dry, moderate acid, mushrooms with the earthiness, and as noted elsewhere a touch of coffee. Needs more depth of flavor, and length of finish, to crack into 90 territory.

Fairly dark red. Intense aged Rhone nose, dark fruit, roasted meat, pepper, earthy cherry, and thyme. Delicious dry peppery black cherry flavours and a perfect in balance finish. Just what I love in a Southern Rhone wine but lately have not always found.

Very nice. A lot of black olive - I might have guessed this was a syrah. Also some smoke on the nose. It's all about the earth and minerals on the palate, with a little more of the black olive, some dark fruit, and a bit of iodine. Well balanced with a finish that lingers.

Olives and tobacco add complexity to the dark red fruits and minerality. If you have a bottle, you can easily pull a cork to experience the lusty textures, full bodied, fresh fruits and sweet, peppery black cherries. Else you can age it a bit longer. This is the first vintage that was fully destemmed at the domaine. The wine was made from a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.

Pretty nice. Dark fruit is pretty reticent, some wild spice, and a lot of barnyard. In a previous note someone wrote creamy and that is indeed a good word to describe the texture of this bottle. Finish seemed a little short.

Bought this in 2009 for $16 on clearance. The blend on this wine is 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. This was stored for at least two years at room temp. Color very dark for CDP. Nose was musty. Mostly alcohol on the initial taste and a bitter finish. After a couple hours the wine softened and bitterness subsided. But no real fruit going on. Mostly a smooth texture experience. Disappointing but could have been a damaged bottle.

2006 Chateauneuf du Papes (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto, CA) : Really bretty nose with some raspberry liqueur trying to work its way out from under the funk, unsuccessfully. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Juicy blackberry and plum fruit with some savory, herbal notes and moderate tannins. Slightly bitter finish, which bothers me, along with the brett.
