A solid wine at nine yrs old. Opens a bit tannic and steamy and integrates some over a couple of hours. Evoking many of the flavors raised in the recent tasting notes. Really sang today - day 3 of being open.

This has to be the most inconsistent wine I’ve had in a long time. For me, it alternates between some bottles being elegant and gently fruity and the next is overly structured. This bottle falls in the latter category.

Took a bottle along for a weekend retreat to P&P before dinner at a country inn. Sipped over an hour with some cheeses and mixed nuts. Perfect pairing for light snacking--very much enjoyed....

Rather atypical for Willamette Valley, and a bit too natty. 13.5% ABV

On opening, I was not loving this wine. Lots of silty sediment. It had a reductive sulfur funk that needed to blow off. There were tons of tannin battling with the underlying fruit and spice— and the fruit was on the losing side. Even after an hour of breathing, the fruit was still hidden and the finish was hot. But after 24 hours open (cork loosely in the remaining 2/3 bottle), it was hugely improved. Nice complex dark fruit. Spice …

Delicious. Huge, but elegant Willamette fruit, but balanced nicely with Burgundian earthiness, mushroom and truffle notes.

Syrupy kind of PN, not my favorite style. Interesting notes, including dark cherry and some charcoal. Agree with the notes that called it disjointed. Not the right bottle of PN for salmon.

Didnt like this. Never really came together. Disjointed good parts. Maybe 1 hr decant. Will try again tonight.

Deep color, more Syrah than Pinot Noir. Already casting a sediment. Nose takes some time to open up— then it becomes cherries, nutmeg, and a bit of acetic acid. From a distance, smells like cherry Lifesavers. There is some up-front astringency and the flavors echo exactly what is on the nose. Nice finish. There is a nice transparency that I sometimes get with warm vintage Oregon Pinot, when the tannin drops but the fruit remains and the palate feels like …

Open for several days by the time I tasted it (on the counter unrefrigerated in between). Good but some VA with a very glossy feel. Cherry lipstick on the nose and the palate, but solid acidity and density.

Well past a case of this and it keeps morphing in positive directions. This bottle adds the depth of hints of soy. A wonderful victory by talented wine makers. Keep it up!

Pop and pour. See previous notes, but somehow this btl was much more compelling than I remember previous btls being...yum!

Pop and pour. On the nose: cocoa, game, wild strawberry, black cherry, soft stems. On the palate: black cherry, lovely acidity, and some real alcoholic heat, which cools on the finish, showing soft tannin. More improvement from prev btls, but still hot for my palate.

Pop and pour. Not sure if the winemaker/winemaking has changed since 2012, but those 2012s are just starting to really show their stuff. I am much less fond of 16 OR PNs than 12s and 15s. Anyway, this was keeping with that trend: on the nose: soft plum, gamebird, cocoa, seems like some stems too, but just a bit too ripe. On the palate: ok acidity, good plum and game, good density, but just a bit flabby, and muddled on …

Same rating as before, with a slight bump as the shock factor was not an issue. Borderline undrinkable. Same burnt rubber notes, dark and heavy, completely unrecognizable as a Pinot. The fact that there are some who seem to love this wine (some likely with an agenda, posting multiple reviews on the same night) is a good reminder to use extreme caution with crowd-sourced wine reviews, especially domestic Pinots. This wine is awful.

Really a stunning Oregon Pinot for the price at $16+ from Garagiste. Drinking beautifully right now. Lovely balance.

Given the recent CT reviews, I was expecting this to be awful. It’s not but it certainly isn’t elegant New World pinot noir either. Quite extracted. A fair amount of white pepper and slightly minty astringency. Fruits are spicy dark plums and blackberries. The 25% oak isn’t very noticeable. Good intensity and finish. This reminds me of the last Thibault Liger-Belair wine I had— a bit like a rustic Burgundy. But now translated in PacNW New World pinot fruit. Hardly …

First impression - this had a burnt plastic/rubber component that dominated the wine. Dark, a bit heavy... really a failue of a Pinot and it reminded me more of a SA Pinotage which are wines I avoid at all costs. Just awful. I will update my note once I have it on night #2 to see if this has evolved at all. If not, I am sending my friends at Garagiste a note on this.
