This one was DONE tonight. Still a rather soft entry, but the gym sock, rancid capicola and wet dog just kind of took over the entire experience and made it a "not so awesome" experience. I don't think that this wine was corked. It just seemed tired and out of its element. Hopefully the other bottles will show a little more youth!

Excellent - maintains a nice oaky nose

Interesting wine. Good that we have popped this bottle as it is going to be past it's prime soon. Good nose upon opening up. Dark fruit and subtle smoke with the fruit being muted and blended. Decent finish with lingering tannins. Went well with seared sausage with a blistered cherry tomato Merlot sauce.

Tasted blind at a poker party. Decanted 6-hours. I seem to recall trying this years ago on release at the winery and thinking it was a decent wine. The years have not been kind, in my estimation, to this bottle. On nose and palate, this wine brought little more than generic, indistinct fruit (maybe blackberry liquor), artificial vanilla, and bitter oak. I was fatigued from sip one on this one. Midpalate was weak and the finish short. I was even …

A little spice/pepper on the nose. A little thin in the mouth. Not good enough for $20.

A pretty good Merlot. Good balance but nothing real special

I have always enjoyed Silverado's Cabs - so I had high expectations for this Merlot. It was paired with braised beef short ribs and parmesan polenta - and I was disappointed with the overall taste of the wine. As much as I wanted it to be good - I kept getting a "metallic" taste on a surprisingly thin pallete. Maybe the food was not an ideal pairing (although it should have been) - but regardless, I thought this wine was …

Needed two hours to decant and window to drink was about an hour. Nose initially barnyard, but after two hours blackberry aroma comes through. As previously mentioned this is very close to a cab look and taste. Cocoa and ripe friut flavored; overall a nice wine with BBQ chicken. Second day, the fruit was gone. This 2003 vintage is in its twilight, drink up.

Smooth and light almost like Pinot Noir. Soft fruitts and toast-good for the price.

Food Pairing: Ribeye, med-rare. Nose: bright cherry fruit, rich chocolate, vanilla, hint of citrus, some butter and oak. Taste: Very rich and oaky, chocolate and ash, but the fruit is still a little hidden after only 15 mins in the decanter. After an hour open, the cherry and plum really spring forth, some nice spice on the finish that lasts and lasts. Pairs well with the meat, very structured, overall very well rounded but slightly acidic. A good swish around …

Deep red color. You nose immediately smells oak, nutty, woody, black berry aromas. This wine was dry with a long finish. Very flavorfull and pairs well with Pasta or a hearty meal. This wine needs to be decanted before drinking.

Potassium tartrate crystals present on the cork. Decanted in bottle 2 hours. Nice, deep color. Fleeting odors of black currants and ??. Simple flavors of black currants and warm spices. Tasted again after 2 days vacu-vin and there was an obvious mocha in the mid-palette. Decant in a proper decanter for at least 3 hours in the furture.

Very depp red/garnet in color. good legs indicating alcohal, but not over-bearing on the palate. Smell was clear reaberry/(current?) to both my wife and I with a cocoa/mocha component. I smelled something else not fruit, but could not peg it. Solid wine, and went well with homemade meatballs and sauce over cappallini noodles. would recommend, but not one I plan to buy more of right away.

Made from 90% Merlot with a dash of 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is ruby red in colour. The nose is mainly savoury - showing herbs, white pepper, toasted oak and just a hint of cherry jam and vanillia characters. The palate is rich and full. Lots of ripe fruit and tobacco. Lovely.

very nice nose, color and initial taste, but the lingering bitter taste didnt mellow after two days open, and left a bit disappointed. Maybe this needs time and that after taste will mellow, but probably won't try again.

Had wine at Val and Linda's. The wine had a gorgeous nose of black liquorish and violets. The tannins were tight when first opened but then softened up after about an hour in the glass. A big wine tightly focused on blackberry and wild berry fruit. Decant this baby before drinking.

Aromas of raspberry, cherry, spice and forest pine with notes of toasty oak. Medium bodied and juicy in the mouth. The back end shows cleansing acidity that gets dried out by the tannins on a finish of moderate length. With extended aeration, some chocolate flavors emerge. Nice aromatics for this price point. Good to very good QPR. 85-87.
