Bouchard Pere et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet

A celebration with friends (Home) : Pale straw. On opening and decanting this is super lithe and lean cf a seemingly more broad Leflaive Pucelles, but when served after a couple of hours the roles have reversed and the Bouchard has filled out and shows more obvious weight and initial richness that follows through to the mid palate. Long Diam 10. Pale straw. Curious one this, but it seems to need air, it’s development perhaps somewhat slowed by the Diam. initially it’s neither here nor there, a bit of lime, some melon, some pear, quite light and lacking. Really can’t make up my mind on this. However, overnight with some air this pulls itself together rather. Certainly not a blockbuster, but there’s a Puligny elegance and florality, and real poise on the palate now. Understated depth and a …

Opened several bottled. All were good condition, maturing. Oak, apple, pear, very ripe melon, caramel and anise. Lovely.

3 bottles - all good. Fresh, hint of oak spice. Not the last word in concentration, but lovely for sure. Diam 10 closure.

Consistent with prior notes. Well-liked, particularly with cheese and fruit.

This is an extremely enjoyable Puligny-Montrachet drinking quite well right now. Balanced, with plenty of fruit and just enough complexity to make it stand out. This isn't a wine to lay down for a decade, but it is delightful to drink now and over the next year or two.

Genka Wine Fair (Intercontinental Hotel) : Clean nose, light to medium intensity (but the wine was a bit too cold), nutty with walnut and roasted almond, buttery with ripe peach as well, youthul. The wine is dry, with medium body and intenity, medium+ acidity and medium alcohol, balanced even though the acidity gets all the more apparent with time, flvaros copying the nose, showing nerve, med/med+ finish. Lemon, honey. This has a sweet feel, mineral and creamy finish. Not as long as the Genevrieres but cleaner feeling due to minerality.
