Barboursville Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

The color is beautiful …. Like the juice of fresh deep currant. Bright cherry and plum on the attack followed by cigar, warm spices (maybe even pepper?) and red currant. But this wine is much more acidic than the other wines. In fact, the acidity is a bit out of balance. One diner proclaims this wine is still too young. From double magnum, with TG dinner. A hint of green on opening, gives over to correct, somewhat stern CS flavors and aromas. Solid depth, not much complexity, but my feeling was that this bottle would have had a decent amount of development in it, had we let it continue to snooze. A very decent showing.

our very favorite VA red!!

Drank from a 3.0 with my family. This bottle was actually pretty good, still well preserved probably due to the bottle size. Attractive fruit which was in balance with wood.
