Habit, Mcginley Sauvignon Blanc, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara

Flash note. Cellar cleanup day. Tried aged Cali SB. And it was really good! Light and fresh. Not to floral. Way to go Jeff Fisher! Well recommended

Great aromatics, texture and acidity. Green apple and pear fruit coupled with a mineral undertone that made for a nice drink. More Loire than cali in my opinion, which can be a great thing. Well recommended.

Offers complex aromas of seashell, tropical fruit, raisin, and chalk. Grapefruit pith, orange peel, lemongrass, and plenty of sea salt on the palate. Has a voluptuous mouth feel, while maintaining good medium plus acidity. Finishes dry, and with good length leaving a tangy residue. Very good now at cellar temperature and with a good future ahead. The stated alcohol is 12.9% though I'd guess this is well into the 13's.

This wine is made from grapes sourced from Happy Canyon, which is warmer than other parts of the Santa Ynez Valley. In the glass, the wine is pale straw with an intensely aromatic nose of citrus, white flowers, tropical fruits and green apples. On the palate, however, the wine is lighter-bodied than other SBs from Happy Canyon (e.g., Margerum, Vogelzang, 3 creeks) with the same flowers and fruits that I smelled, but curiously, muted. Enjoyed this. Texture is a bit fatter than some other SBs I have enjoyed but there is acid here to keep the wine fresh, too. Melon, fig and a creamier finish.
