Darker and fuller fruit than the 2007, and then a bit of a cave on the mid palate. Drinks like the more brooding, weighter, less perfumed vintage. A little more tart, harder more mineral edge.

Maturing. There's some browning to the rim. Such a transference of flavor relative to the extraction and color. Next to 2012 Calera CC PN, which shows darker and more concentrated, but doesn't quite hold to intensity of flavor. The Crooner carries a riper, sweet fruit finish. Strawberry, rhubarb, cherry. For a second I thought I was at a drive-in movie. For the first time, an experience with Vecino Vineyard that is maturing. Shows a good amount of Burgundian under brush …

Sunday afternoon bottle with a Bourgogne triple creme. Hazy summer raspberry in color, singing acidity and just bursting with strawberry and raspberry fruit. Gorgeous!

Well isn't this just magical in a Zalto Burgundy glass. Ripe fruit on the nose, earth touch of spice, palate is soft in the mid but with a very clear acid streak to the back, finishing around its acids. Beautiful stuff.

Now this is what people mean when they say spice box. Dramatic nose. Less of the Kenny "rhubarb", more of dark fruits. Richly complex, really harmonious. I remember Kenny telling me that '07 was a real high point and that this might of actually been slightly down. Fennel, anise, smells like the south of France. Now down, just different. Delicious now. Black tea.

Seemed a bit more "sour" than last time. But opened with about two hours. Reveals more of the site too -- more of the high toned Rhubarb thing going on like F&S + S&S. Delicious as always.

Uberslop nailed it; not much to add to the previous TN. Nervy red berry and cherry, forest floor, menthol. Low alcohol, old world feel, but has CA richness around the edges. Structured and lush; go figure. Not that complex, but the balance and finish are awesome. QPR is terrific, but probably a moot point as it's off the shelves and hard to find.

Astounding QPR. Acidity at once electric and medium; i.e., more balanced than nervy. Great out of the bottle, though the first 30 minutes see a rather intense herbal thing on the back end, somewhere between eucalyptus and Cynar. This gives way, though, and the wine smooths out really nicely. Medium minus garnet fades to rose at the rim. Faintest thoughts of a haze to the wine. Pronounced cranberry and cherry aromas right off the cork pull. Palate really envelops. Beautiful, as expected. Light and high-toned, earthy punch to the tart fruit. A touch cloudy, also consistent. The perfect excuse to be self-indulgent and keep it all to myself this afternoon. Gonna keep hoarding the sunshine, Mother Nature? No problem, I have a little of my own tucked away.
