Domaine Chanson Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard

Off the wine list at the Kitchen, Jackson WY. Deep ruby color, medium bodied. Black cherry with the slightest hint of smoked meat. Good fruit, but leaning more towards the savory side of the scales. Dusty tannins quite prevalent. Chosen to pair with salmon, pork chop, and a burger—and did a very workmanlike job of pairing well with most, especially the salmon. Juicy burger softened the tannins. Ok wine, but was hoping for more hints at complexity.

Barrel sample tasted from shipped half bottle. Medium nose shows bramble, white pepper, cookie wafer (?), raspberry, dried cherry. Palate nicely expressive, cranberry, dried raspberry, orange peel, black tea, rose stems, medium plus acidity, medium tannins (whole cluster) give it backbone and need to unwind a bit. Nice expression.
