Rockpile Winery (Mauritson) Zinfandel Uncle's Block

Decanted 1 hr. Two of the 5 glasses had marvelous cherry bouquet. Nice tastes of cherries and red & darker fruits. Negligible spice taste.

Not Irish, but nevertheless, a very nice St. Paddy’s Day drink! Nice cherry and herbal notes on the nose, which continue on the palate. Spicy notes on the long finish. Astringent, but nut overwhelming. Actually a nice balance with fruit and acidity, but could mellow more with another year or two in the bottle. Wish I had more...

Big fruity nose—raspberry—on this one. The good news, though, is that on introduction, this one is not as fruity as the nose might have suggested. There is some raspberry and red plum, but it is not over the top. Interesting viscous mouthfeel. Tip f the tongue gets drying tannin, and edge of the tongue gets acid tartness. Darned good everyday drinker
