Brooding a bit. Fruit nose has been obscured somewhat by some earth and olive notes. A bit awkward. Wait another five years.

Dried cherries, smooth, expressive. Lovely

Volnay with Luis Gutierrez (Enoteca Barolo - Madrid) : Cherry colour with watery-brownish rims. Timid nose, dusty cupboard smell. Here we have a solid winemaker, a heavy vintage, a unusual 1er Cru so there is elegance nowhere. With time, some richness and opulence. I´d wait for a long time before to try again. Red Burgundy @ Vineyard Gate (Millbrae, CA) : Beautiful perfume--even now--of strawberry, rose petals and spice. Refined and seductive with strong mid-palate attack. Great concentration, tannins present but not at all harsh. This is a true beauty that will reward those who wait. From 2018 at the earliest.

Spicy, with dried red cherry fruit. Fairly tight at the moment. Impressive balance and texture. Expansive on the palate, with a delicate, rather feminine profile. Quite nice, but it probably needs 5+ in the cellar.
