Clos Dels Codols Montsant

Very bright fruit on the nose. On the palate, slightly empty on the mid-palate, but decent length. Medium bodied and very light on the tannins. Hard to describe the fruit, and there's a slight earthiness to it, but an odd flavor profile (to me, at least) which has a slight mushroomy and vegetal character, but not in an offensive way.

Quite pleasant and complex nose. Much better and complex on the nose than on the flavor profile. Very nice entrance, and also nice finish, but kind of hollow; kind of empty on the mid-palate. Rather light bodied for a Grenache. However, I'm not disappointed. Good value. Awesome nose. A different bet. Very nice fruit traits.

Decanting is a must. Initially at least the high alcohol is very noticeable, but it does decrease as the wine airs a bit. Very nice though fairly simple dark fruits with a mustiness and earthiness that compliments it nicely. There is a bit of petrol or plastic odor and taste that is a bit off-putting, again diminishing as it airs.

deutlich fruchtig, deutliche Tannine, mehr davon.

A little hot, but otherwise quite rewarding. Medium body, moderate tannins. Fairly simple dark fruit flavors with an earthy base, a bit of petrol taste, moderately long finish that leans more to the earthy side and loses the fruit.

Nice value. Pretty soft on the palate for a Grenache. Didn't pick up any of the overly alcohol charateristic previously noted. Nice medium-dark red fruits with a bit of Bordeaux-like asphalt. Reminded me of a good entry level Entre-Deux-Mers. I'll buy this one again.

Stinky alcoholic nose. Doesn't handle it's 14% well. Hot red fruits (red hots?). More effective than an electronic nose hair trimmer. Good reminder of why I don't like grenache.
