This is rather more floral and peppery than the 2007. It’s sophisticated but not quite my thing. {12.5%, cork}

Dark fruit and floral aromas. Nice flavours of pure clean dark fruit with hints of violet and pepper and a slight wild rhoney aspect. Possibly some subdued oak influence. Some complexity. Finish perhaps not quite as smooth as one would hope. A nice wine but overpriced in the BC market.

2012 Northern Rhones: Georges Vernay and Vincent Paris (Bistro 7 (7 N. 3rd St., Philadelphia)) : Maybe it is a characteristic of the Vernay house style for reds, but again a huge shot of pepper on the nose. While it is interesting, I'm not I need a huge wallop of pepper as the first note from the wine. Underneath the pepper, there is good fruit, violets and minerality all supported by good acidity.
