Guenin Champagne Effloraison

Good

Medium nose intensity with notes of lemon, bread, toast, grapefruit.

Pale lemon in the glass. Quite subtle on the nose, showing mostly citrus fruit, some green apple and brioche. Restrained style of Champagne, not much tension or terroir expression. Just ok.

Not my favourite. Took 4 hours to open up after drinking a few glasses from the bottle. Nose is quite yeasty and shoes little hints of red fruits, and creamy apricot (very slight, not a main note). My biggest criticism is that the mid palate and intensity on palate didn't match the nose. I thought there was nice texture, but didn't see the wine really come together. Disgorged 11/21 for a 2018 base wine of 70/30 pinot noir/Chardonnay.
