Kuhlman Estate Roussanne Estate

DANG this is our last one. A true wine of the Benedicte Rhyne era, this one is stupidly complex. Roussanne that is firing on all cylinders right now. I remember having this one years ago and it was already doing very well. The 2020 whites from the Texas appellations seem to all be doing very well.

At 14.8, this white wine can is holding it's own quite well!

So it has been a little bit since I posted a Kuhlman white wine. This 2020 Roussanne is made from their estate fruit. Thick, dense, waxy mouthfeel. Honeysuckle, lemongrass, hint of honey and beeswax. Acidic throughout, this has just enough bite to enjoy a loan, or enough to cut through most dishes. We usually enjoy Kuhlman wines as aperitif wines knowing that it will go incredibly well with just about any food that we consume afterwards in conjunction with the …

Quite a difference from the Roussanne I had back in September '21. That wine was noticeably more rounded whereas this one really was sharper (as you would expect it would be). This had a more lemon and sharper, bracing acidic character but still settled to a Meyer lemon, kiwi and key lime. A bit more tropical, but didn't go to the grapefruit side. This wine pours with quite an herbal and rounded quality. I would have expected this from the THP Roussanne but good to see this maturity in the THC Estate fruit. Yellow fruit and white flowers with stone ground minerality present here. A very rounded wine so young. Would have guessed that this was 3-4 years in bottle. Nice wine and definitely showing well. Pulled pork with Salsa Verde brought out some acidic character here in the finish. Wine has great …
