Bright red, just running to a hint of browner development at the rim. Sweet red fruits on the nose , very cherry/ berry. Very soft tannins and acids now especially with food. Enjoyable but quite simple. Drink up

Ruby red, towards the brown, quite sharp on the smell. Very easy to drink. Very light. Low acidity. Fruity in the mouth. No apparent aftertaste. Split decisiln here. Michael says boring, but nice at first. Probably not a stayer in our house.

Kirsebær og skogbunn, syrlig aroma. Mild, fersk frukt. Lite utviklet syre, stram avslutning. Har godt av lufting. En grei Sangiovese til en grei pris.

Lys rød i glasset.

Deep red with a touch of bricking. Cork disintegrated on opening but was obviously doing its job ok. Lovely berry filled nose is the highlight of this wine. Aged palate, but still very pleasant. Strong tannins remain with a moderate acid on the back palate. Still lovely cherry flavors peeking through, but does have an aged tone about it. Perhaps over the hill, but it is clearly a very slow decline... very very pleasant still

Still a great vine, delicious taste and body. I was worried about the age, but happy when we opened it.

Largely what it should be, if not as rustic as some. Good fruit, decent acidity, some cocoa. Dark on the nose, decidedly brighter, more red fruit on the palate. Long-ish finish, good for price point. Solid, if not great.

Silky and smooth but yet powerful. Goes very well with meat and tomato sauces when not too spicy, otherwise it might enhance the tannings and become too strong for some. But also goes very well with just a snack of olives and salamis or by itself. Drink now.

Consistent with the last two bottles (chocolate covered cherries, a little earth). Good acidity. Can hold up to fairly powerful tomato sauces. Like the last bottle, develops a off-putting chemical smell around day 2 or 3 (in the fridge), but that disappears after awhile... 88-89

Such a cool wine. Have had several Rossos di Montepulciano, this one wins out. They are lighter, almost "pinot" in intensity, but with vibrancy, spiciness from Sangiovese (spciy cherry with a whiff of orange peel), and nice tangy finish. Ruby red, probably sees some wood, which gives spice and smoothness (not sure on ageing). Great for warmer weather as a red, too. Persistence on finish here too. Good by the glass for a medium red, or good with all kinds …

The aromas grow richer as the wine opens up, with deep cherry, tobacco, and spicy notes, with a medium-bodied and leathery palate where the fruit plays off the acidity to fine affect. Bone-dry, with rich cherry flavors, and velvetty red fruits. An impressive wine for the money.

A touch bitter on the start after 30 minutes breathing, allowing to breathe for two hours helped quite a bit. The interesting part was the finish. While at first I thought it was shorter, 20-30 seconds after, the fruit seemed to show through, and raised the enjoyment of the wine.

Federal Wine and Spirits Tuscany Tasting : More of everything compared to the Moris Farms Morellino di Scansano. Still nice aromatics. Mixed in with the floral aspects and red fruits, there seemed to be a tobacco element that I liked. Longer finish. Nice.

Wow, really enjoyed this. Awesome perfume from the glass. Smelled like chocolate covered cherries. Juicy acidity and nice balance. A slightly richer body that went well with tomato sauce. Not very complex, but so delicious. Was actually sad when I finished it. Will definitely buy more. 88+

In glass two hours. Really fantastic nose. Delicious, showing deep hard cherry candy, pepper, graphite, pumice, the green and yellow gummy worms, and something a bit meaty. Medium bodied and mild on the palate, showing some generic red fruits (cherry, perhaps some red apple), and some mild tartness and some tannins. Finish brings some light spice, and trails off quickly, but shows some cherry fruit covered by rocky, gravely tannins. I wish the nose followed through on the palate and …

Average to better full bodied Vino Nobile. Dark purple in color, smells like a perm right off the bat. Opens up to reveal berries, leather, tobacco. Still some acid structure but I'd guess this is at or near peak. Decent wine but I wouldn't seek it out.

Proof positive that a bottle of wine doesn't have to be a "90+" to be enjoyable. A foot of snow, some piping hot spaghetti, and a btl of 2003 Avignonesi Rosso, and all is good. Medium bodied with good fruit and acidity, its a perfect match for italian dishes with tomato-based sauces.

This wine took a while to open up completely and to get through the smoke and saddle leather which evolved into dark berries, black tea leaf, some earth and a hint of chocolate. It was a nice trip though, going through multiple phases for the palette and nose.

Donker rode kleur.

Suzi, Eric and Sid's Trip to Italy; 8/21/2003-9/4/2003 (Tuscany & Bellagio, Italy) : (Tasting at Avignonesi) This is 80% prugnolo gentile with the remainder mammolo and canailo nero. On the nose this is a touch herbal and leafy with tobacco and some tea leaf. On the palate this has great mouthfeel, soft tannins, very round and leathery with red berry elements. The finish is long and cool with nice acidity and chewy tannins. This works quite well, nice Vino Nobile.
