Has a hint of acetone at first, but it quickly blows off after decanting. Nose of blackcurrant and cured meat, with a hint of farmyard. Palate shows smokey, meaty flavours of grilled sausage, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Bright acidity punches through the richness, bringing flavours of cranberry and rose petals. Faded tannins stay in the background.

2001 magnum. Drank in March 2018. Slow start but opened up really well. Quite light. Very pleasant. Was surprised it was not past it’s best.

From magnum. White pepper, blackberry, cherry and raspberry on the nose. Rich and mouth filling on the palate without being over the top.

Past its prime. The rich fruit has become tart and the acidity and (minimal) tannin unbalanced. Look for a younger vintage if drinking this year and beyond.

TWC does Southern Rhone and Aussie GSMs (Dennis and Karin's House) : A blend of Grenache and Mourvedre. Ruby colored, with spice and blackberry aromas, with a palate with a lovely vanilla sheen and black fruits.
