Stainless steel fermentation and lees aging. This is not your run of the mill, crisp but simple Italian Pinot Grigio. There's more body, fruit ripeness, and leesy creamy feel. The acid is a lot lower too. White peach and floral notes. Some stony minerality and even a hint of petro, which is weird for this varietal. I should let it warm up some to get more on the nose, but the style is definitely more sophisticated than typical cheap, simple …

This '22 Pinot Grigio from the great Livio Felluga was served at the Mailroom's second DFW wine tasting event. This tasting was centered around tasting the different regions that Italy has to offer. Tasting notes of ripe orange melon, ripe pear, and some minerality - albeit a sweeter expression overall. No long form written TN's as I was hosting this event. If you're based in the DFW area, definitely worth joining in on an event. I scored this wine 90 …

Light straw in color, complete opacity, medium alcohol based on viscosity. Nose has good concentration, bringing green pear and apple, white peach, apricot and a touch of melon alongside acacia. The palate has good concentration, with a honeyed melon flavor with a waxy texture, bright and vibrant in both flavor and acid with a finish of good length. Medium body, medium+acid, medium+finish

Folks, this is pinot grigio at its best. Almost rose gold in the glass with a shimmer of orange rust in the mix, the striking visual leads to a nose brimming with candied pear, butter, apricot, melon, caramel popcorn, river stone and steely minerals. It's shifty and complex, with a smacking and oxidative palate rich with swaths of honey, apple, cream, stonefruits, saline and lemon peel balanced towards a long finish. Plumbing the depths of this bottle never gets old. …

NV Blind Tasting (Neighborhood Vinter, Austin TX) : [blind tasting] Yellow/gold color stood out from the two Chards. Ripe flavor on the nose with apple, peach, stone fruit but still quite dry and crisp on the palate. Guessed that this is an Italian white but haven't had a Pinot Grigio for a while.

I took this bottle of Pinot Grigio to a blind tasting a few nights ago and am just now getting around to reviewing it. Pale gold colored with copper highlights and a watery sheen (13.5% ABV). It's obviously had a bit of skin contact by the color. The nose has medium (+) intensity aromas of grapefruit pith, lemon and lime zest, white blossom, chamomile, orange peel and slate. On the palate it is dry with medium acidity and a medium …

Tasted blind. Bright med lemon with a copper hue. Med intensity aromas of white orange blossom, ripe lemon, yellow apple, white peach, wet stone, leesy yeast/beer. The nose is developing (+). Dry, with med (+) acidity, med (+) alcohol (13.5%). Med (+) body, med flavor intensity and length, with a slight phenolic bitterness on the finish. Drink now, not suitable for further aging. Good quality, classic hillside PG. Great QPR.

Remains in the excellent zone maintaining its peachy fruit core, steel mineral backbone and lemon/lime citrus grip. Meadow herb tones. Excellent and should hold up well over the next year or two.

Stone / rock on the nose with a touch of stone fruit in there as well. Not much, a hint. They are the ones that started Pinot Grigio in the 1950s. Apparently there is a prisoner of war story in here from World War II and then taking the business to a different level. The label is all estate and from all the villages and hamlets where he grows his grapes. Mark notes a backed apple or pear note to …

Went back for more of the 2017 and true to Kansas distributor warehouse practices there was 2016 sitting on the shelf. So I said WTH. Great divinity and structure. Lots of mild fruit, lemon, blood orange, honey dew melon and grapefruit. Palate was quite enticing and fruit acid balance from a little age was really nice.

This is a well made Pinot Grigio with an unusual balance of being creamy on the palate and having nice acidity on the finish. Subtle flavors of tropical fruit, peach and a hint of lemon curd. Easy drinking with a light meal.

Pour is yellow and bright. On the nose it brings melon, white peach, some herbacious notes, and....cheese? More aromatic than expected. The palate is more creamy than most Pinot grigios I have had, with good acidity. Certainly not a new world watered-down Pinot gris. Paired well with the chicken Florentine soup for supper.

Straight in fridge to cool on delivery (not the best way to treat a new arrival)! Lots of promise of things to come in a year or so's time although rather closed up as its stands. Hints of aromatic stoned fruits and salad greens (celery hers indoors called it) with core minerality and gentle viscosity. Hold till next year. Probably 90+ when ready.

At Oso. A nice lunch wine. It had a really attractive nose, with a drift of white flowers, mineral and peach, and just a little drift of seabreeze. Fresh and inviting. It was a touch simple on the palate, but very enjoyable, with a nice juicy balance to its peach and citrus notes, punctuated with a lithe minerality. Good with seafood.

Appearance: yellow with light copper reflections Nose: pleasant and intense, intriguing, aromas of melon, carob, mock-orange blossoms , nectarine peach, pear and almond blossom; hints of candied ginger and papaya. Palate: well-structured, embracing and savory; notes of apricot and clementine combine with hints of whipped cream, almond milk, pistachio fading towards aromas of nettle. Serving suggestions: A particularly good match for fish, seashell, risottos and baked vegetables.

Majeka House Tasting - Italy (Stellenbosch) : (Tasted Blind) Mid lemon straw colour with a tint of copper. Perfumed aromas with musk, boiled sweets, spices, strawberries and cream, pineapple rind and preserved tangerine peel. Clean entry with broader palate shape, touch viscosity on the mid palate; a lively acidity, medium alcohol and slightly chalkiness on the back palate. While this is definitely past its prime, it did have some uniqueness and was interesting, but not necessarily enjoyable. Not much fruit left on the nose, instead wet rock, minerals, and petroleum such as from an older German riesling. The palate was equally as odd with green olives, herbs, petroleum followed through on palate along with green tea leaves. Odd, glad I experienced this, but not enjoyable.
