Perman Champagne Night (Perman Wine Selections - Chicago IL) : Sit down tasting. Lemon and lemon peel with some floral touches. The Extra Brut character is slightly more pronounced that I would consider ideal, but I think that is the norm for this cuvée.

NYE night. Up next to stiff competition. This was my #2 or #3 of the night after a great bottle of 1985 Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne. Typical Bereche style. Holding up well in the riper vintage which I was worried about. I might slightly prefer the yumminess of the 2018, but this is much more complete than the 2017. Lovely light style of rose and one of my favorite rose bottlings.

In a great spot right now, straddling freshness with some mature and oxidized notes. Some nice ginger spice in the foreground, pushing grilled lemon, quince, cardamom, and yellow pear flesh flavors forward. Finishes focused and framed beautifully. More balanced and a bit fresher than the 2016. 94 (pushing 95). 2015 LES BEAUX REGARDS DEGORGE: DEC.2018 DOSAGE 3gl 100%CHARDONNAY

2024 Year-End Dinner : Smells so much like fresh apple cider with that touch of oxidative fruit. It's dense, fleshy, with lots of red fruit, ending with a stony characteristic. Felt a little bit more tightly wound than the Vincey, I bet this will get even better with time. Notably darker in color. 100% chardonnay. This one is sourced from two plots in Ludes, on the Montagne de Reims.

Barbie vs Oppenheimer (Hey Kee HK Restaurant) : Expressive nose that got better in the glass. Alpine flowers, green apple and Anjou pear with a touch of yeast. Focussed yet mouth-filling palate, with a long finish. Also guessed blanc de blanc.

Champagne and northern Rhones : Brought for a friend. Lean, green fruit so most guessed correctly to be a BdB. Some liked this but thought this was a little off - had a natural and woolly feel, didn’t have the balance and precision that I expect of Bereche.

Très beau nez de brioche, pain grillé, léger herbe coupée... Crisp citrus and pain grillé, belle longueur.

La Fête du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY) : Walkaround tasting. Chardonnay 3g/l, this low dosage is pronounced to me. Bright and long with subtle complexity.

Going to be a great wine. But a bit too young and simple right now. Everything is there for some serious improvement.

Single-varietal champagnes : My contribution. Disgorged Jan 2021, 3g/l dosage. Crisp, green apple fruit that I feel is Bereche’s signature. Good balance between roundness and acidity with a lovely textural mouthfeel. Quite a lot was left by the end of dinner so I guessed the others didn't like this as much as I did. Brought the leftovers on second day for another dinner, seemed to be a crowd favourite.

Really nice wine, the mousse is very gentle. Light gold in the glass. The feature I love most about this wine is some spicy ginger and cinnamon notes that come through on the finish. That seems somewhat rare on a BdB and is likely the result of barrel toast and lees contact. This improved throughout the night

not blind, 1/250 Magnums One of my favourite roses. It is elegant and powerful likewise, a bit comparable to Cristal Rose, it is unique. No disturbing fruit elements, some cranberry and black currant notes. Cracking acidity. Very good champagne for 2015. 94-95

La Festa del Barolo: Masterclass (and burgers) (The Pool/Grill) : Off the list at the Grill in magnum format as we were pouring a table of 17 people and that’s quite a lot! This poured a slightly darker color than some of the other ones that were more of that bright white-sunshine style. Still drank very well and while I didn’t take detailed notes I did notice the bottle did not last very long.

Brought this to 67PM for lunch with my wife. 2017 vintage BdB, disgorged Jan 2021, 3g/l dosage Lovely waxy lemon zest, quince and sea breeze nose On the palate great tension between some grapefruit and green apple tang vs some rich sweet pastry. Long finish Lovely stuff

I really enjoy and admire Bereche but I had a hard time getting into this. Strawberry and rhubarb but without as much complexity as one so often finds in Bereche. Followed for about 3.5 hours, improving after about an hour

A night at the shack (Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR) : The nose is aromatic and in beautiful harmony right now as it fills the glass with rose hips, strawberries, citrus notes, crushed rocks, baking spices, red cherries, apples, roasted nuts, earth tones, and a bit of cinnamon spices. There is excellent depth and seamlessness that shows off a bit of a regal quality. The Medium bodied feel is deft and silky with tart and integrated, high acidity. This is …

Marina: Out of the Ashes of Whole Fish (Martina, Mpls) : Light gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. This has one of those really leesy, earthy, musty, damp noses with dried apple, almond and brioche. The palate is full bodied and deep while retaining its vigor; showing more lemon and citrus with the apple notes giving way to gunflint and lots of chalky dry extract. Classy stuff for sure, 93+pts.

I'm already a huge fan of the basic NV Reserve and this is a further proof of concept! This has that signature weightless finesse & silky but lifted elegance I love in Bereche wines along with an expanded range of flavors & harmonics. Very nice and my white of the night. I'm still very very happy with the Brut Reserve for the price difference but this makes a nice splurge.

La Tablee: Farming Revolution in the Northern Rhone (Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria) : Not quite as good as the BdN but still a very nice wine. Also that crisp and bright style. A bit more citrus in nature.

During a Domaine visit which confirmed that Bereche is a very strong, upcoming producer to look out for. After the Vallee de Marne Rive Gauche, we are clearly in BdB territory. Citrus, pear, very aromatic wine here as well, precise with good length. Best after 2027. 94+

This is so lovely. It is ever so slightly pink rose color. There are pretty aromas of strawberry and forest berry fruits, and a lively freshness, and zippy acid, and nice hard stone impressions.

snap crackle pop! drank the base 15 vintage and saved the 13 base i have for more sideways time. this drank to me like a high class chassagne w bubbles. great crunchy yellow/white fruit with a stony core. approachable and just a pleasure to drink. great w a wacky cheese plate w spiced marshmallow goo, a heady aged goat cheese and a savory chocolate graham cracker at Stanbury in Raleigh.

Fantastic. Salmon color. Nose is precise and brisk with white cherries, strawberries, crushed chalk, oyster shells, mint and white tea. Wow, such focus and precision on the palate. Raspberry, lemon, McIntosh apple, with notes of honeycomb and gingerbread, along with delicious, complex savory notes that are just peeking out (mushroom, pine needles, white pepper). Delicious stuff, a rose for those who aren't huge into rose Champagne perhaps.

65% Pinot Noir (60% Free run and 5% still Pinot Noir), 30% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier from the Ormes. Pale Salmon with tiny pin prick sized bubbles. Tart raspberry, choke cherry, strawberry and wet slate mix with herbal notes of mint, pie crust and violets. This is so lithe and elegant...really understated and regal. Finish is long and expansive.

Drank over the course of two days and actually felt like the champagne stayed relatively intact for that. This was more buttery and bready in style. Drinks pretty well. First time with this producer and I enjoyed it.

Wonderfully ripe but fresh acidity, smoky and spicy, pear and lemon, warmth from the wood, palpable chalk, minerally definition, full flavoured and precise, good length.
